Summary
[Q470] Saturday February 23 1688[/9]. On Monday the 18 of this instant February his Majestie came to the House of Lords and sate there in his Robes, The Lords were also in theirs.
He sent for the House of Commons up by Sir Thomas Duppa Gentleman of the Black Rod, and made a Speech to them in the words following. [blank]
Then the Lords brought in and read a Bill for the declaring this to be a Parliament. The Lords also sate again in the afternoon and made further progress upon that Bill.
The Commons returned to their House and considered of his Majesties Speech &c
Its generally said all the [blank] will unite their strength to oppose the Declaring of this Convention to be a Parliament and this day Sir Edward Seymore and Sir Thomas Clarges expressed so much to the House of Commons, that they understood they would be against it, and the coulourable reasons they went upon.
