1 Dr. Hyde was a graduate of Yale, class of 1895, and of the Harvard Law School, 1898. He was accorded the degree of LL.D. by Northwestern University in 1924. In 1928 he was appointed the American member of the United States-Venezuela Commission for the Advancement of Peace under the Treaty of 1914. He was counsel for the Government of Guatemala in the arbitration of the boundary dispute with Honduras 1931-1932. He was elected an associate member of the Institut de Droit International in 1925 and a full member in 1949. Last year he was appointed by President Truman a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague.
