1 It should be said that this is not as a matter of fact the reading of the earliest edition, which gives ‘Hor,’ apparently a misprint ‘corrected’ (naturally enough) to ‘Horror’ in later editions. ‘Horn’ is the correction of Hawkins and later editors, including Professor Boas, from whose critical note I take these particulars as to the variants (but not as to the reason for the mistakes in the early texts).
