Editor's report

Any report of this year's activity must begin with an acknowledgement of Bill Reese's central role. Every issue of 1995 has been put together by Bill, and several issues of next year will also bear his imprint. Over his seven years as editor, Bill Reese has set a high standard of editorial excellence. Under his leadership, the size of the Quarterly has increased markedly, as the number of articles, essay reviews, and book reviews has grown. In these same years, subscriptions and memberships have also increased steadily, which I take to be a measure of widespread approval of Bill's work. I am pleased that Bill will continue his affiliation with the Quarterly by serving as one of four associate editors.
