Storage of food grains and insect control in developing countries

Abstract

In view of the losses of harvested grain incurred due to problems related to storage, marketing, transport, and handling, this paper reviews the situation on storage of food grains in developing countries. It lists the insect pests that frequently attack stored food grains in these countries and discusses strategies that would minimise the damage caused by the pests.

Résumé

Étant donné des pertes de graines moisonnées dues aux problèmes ayant rapport au stockage, à la commercialisation, au transport, et au maniement, ce papier donne un compte rendu de la situation sur le stockage de graines vivrières dans les pays en voie de développement. Il liste des insectes nuisibles qui attaquent fréquement des graines vivrières stockées dans de tels pays et discute des stratégies qui réduiraient au minimum les dégâts causés par les ravageurs.
