The subject of Bimetallism is not a burning question now as it was some few years ago, but it is worth while to consider the arguments used for and against, as it is possible thereby to obtain an idea of the principles underlying currency problems.
1. Alleged evils—
(a) A great fall in gold prices, causing
(1) A disturbance of the standard of value,
(2) Increased burden on debtors,
(3) Discouragement of industry.
