Summation over Feynman histories: the free particle and the harmonic oscillator

Abstract

Using a particular parametrization of paths, the free particle and the harmonic oscillator are treated by the Feynman method of summation over histories of the system. The propagators obtained are, apart from an arbitrary phase factor, those of conventional quantum mechanics.
