VSG and North Star Imaging Sign Joint Partnership Agreement

FEI's Visualization Sciences Group and North Star Imaging have signed an OEM partnership agreement between the two companies. North Star Imaging will begin offering VSG's Avizo® Fire high-end 3D visualization and analysis software as an integrated component with their 3D X-ray scanning solutions. NSI's high-speed, high-resolution 3D Computed Tomography X-ray imaging systems will be enhanced by now also offering VSG's ability to supply fast analysis and modeling of the collected data.

Ombu Group Company Phase Focus Signs Licensing Agreement with Gatan

Ombu Group announced that Phase Focus Ltd has entered into a licensing agreement with Gatan, Inc. Gatan is a manufacturer of instrumentation and software used to enhance and extend the operation and performance of electron microscopes. The agreement provides for joint development of a range of products, including a Virtual Lens “add-on” product for existing electron microscopes. Once fully developed, the products will be marketed by Gatan.

Patent Awarded to XEI Scientific for their TEM Wand for Plasma Cleaning

XEI received a U.S. Patent, “Cleaning Device for Transmission Electron Microscopes,” marketed as the XEI TEM Wand. It is used to remove hydrocarbon contamination from the sample introduction and pole piece regions of TEMs. The Wand consists of a plasma-cleaning device mounted on a hollow rod that replaces the specimen holder and is inserted into the instrument just as if a sample is being exchanged.

Semrock Manufactures the World's First 11-Band Optical Filter

Semrock announced the production of the world's first 11-band filter with steep edges within a 100 nm wide spectral window. The filter has high transmission and exceptional blocking outside each of the eleven. The unmatched spectral complexity of this 11-band filter was designed specifically to match the corresponding formaldehyde fluorescence emission spikes over the 380–480 nm wavelength range. The filter can be used to investigate the homogeneous charge combustion ignition (HCCI) combustion process.

Carl Zeiss Introduces Open Application Development for ZEN Software
