Precipitation-Induced Nano-Twinning
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 26 February 2011
Abstract
γ(TiAl) alloys containing Ti3AlC perovskite precipitates show overlapping planar faults, which can apparently rearrange into embryonic twins and subsequently grow into large twins. An electron-microscopical study is introduced and followed by a micromechanical modelling of the fault and twin development process. The thickness and length of the embryonic twins can be predicted with the developed model.
