This paper outlines a new econometric model of Belgium, ANELISE, developed at the Unité d’analyse Economique (ANEC), Institut des Sciences Economiques at the Université Catholique de Louvain during the spring of 1973. This model responds to needs for a simple structural representation of the Belgian economy useful for academic studies, for a short term prediction, and for policy analysis. This is intended as the first stage of a live project which will see evolution of the model as it is tested, improved, and enlarged.
