My term as editor of Language in Society will finish at the end of 2019. Much of the work on the next issues of the journal will have been done during 2019, but this is the final issue for which I am officially editor. I warmly welcome the new editors, Susan Ehrlich and Tommaso Milani, who between them have a wealth of experience on research on language in society.
