I would like to congratulate the recently elected Microscopy Society of America Council Members Andrew Minor (President-Elect), Feng-Xia (Alice) Liang (Biological Sciences Director), and Peter Ercius (Physical Sciences Director). Having served on Council myself, I hope they know what they have volunteered for!! All joking aside, in recent years these three new members of Council have provided extensive service to MSA through their meeting activities, including presenting numerous papers, organizing and chairing pre-meeting events and meeting symposia, and participating in Focused Interest Groups (FIGs). MSA relies heavily on the participation and leadership of volunteers to keep the Society moving forward, and the example being set by Andrew, Alice, and Peter is greatly appreciated by all members and meeting attendees. Their new roles as MSA Council Members will be challenging, but rewarding, as they help set the goals and direction of MSA for the next several years. I hope others will follow their example and volunteer their time and talents to help MSA whenever possible.

An early challenge for Andrew, Alice, and Peter will be helping to organize and set policies for what will, hopefully, be an on-site M&M meeting in Portland, Oregon from July 31 through August 4, 2022. Eric Stach, Program Chair for M&M 2022, provides a meeting preview of the technical program and educational opportunities in this issue of Microscopy Today. A key component of the meeting that we want to publicize as much as possible is that we must comply with COVID regulations in place for meetings in Portland. These currently include proof of vaccination, but please check with the Oregon Convention Center and M&M 2022 website (https://www.microscopy.org/MandM/2022/) for the most recent updates. Details regarding the proof of vaccination requirement are being finalized at present and will be conveyed well in advance of the meeting. We hope that all will be able to attend M&M 2022 to present their most recent research and will also congratulate Andrew, Alice, and Peter on their new positions on the MSA Council.
