We report the occurrence of Trachurus lathami and Callorhinchus callorynchus in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon (37°44′S 57°25′W, Buenos Aires, Argentina). The capture of both specimens apparently represents the first record in a coastal lagoon. The presence of both species in this lagoon, suggests that fluctuating characteristics of environmental factors in estuaries, present proper scenarios for incursions of estuarine-non-dependent marine fish.
