The particularity of nuclear power plant environment requires that the nuclear power inspection robot must be remote control operation. The main purpose of the inspection robot is to carry out inspection, prevention, reporting, and safety emergency operation on the instruments, so as to provide guarantee for the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. Based on the representative configuration of nuclear power robot at home and abroad, this paper develops a small and lightweight nuclear power plant inspection robot, including walking mechanism, lifting mechanism, operating mechanism, image acquisition, information communication and control system, etc., to carry on the statics analysis to the key components of the inspection robot and verify that the stiffness and strength of the mechanical structure meet the requirements of lightweight design. Modal analysis is carried out to verify that the motor does not cause resonance when working. The kinematic model of the robot has been established and can provide the theoretical basis for the controller design. A hierarchical control system based on LabVIEW upper computer monitoring and control operation interface is established, which uses adaptive fuzzy Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control to simulate the walking control, and then realizes the control of walking mechanism through software programming, and the adaptive fuzzy PID control has better effect than the conventional PID control. The S-type acceleration and deceleration algorithm is used to realize the accurate control of the position location of the lifting mechanism. Finally, combined with the experiment of 5MS robot comprehensive experimental platform, it is proved that the inspection robot can realize remote control function operation.

A generalized dynamic model for an automotive drive train system was detailed to investigate its modal properties and dynamic behavior. The model's engine excitation, clutch, gearbox and disc brake were presented. Then, vibration modes were obtained and classified into clutch, transmission system, disc brake, bearing and combined modes. For each vibration mode, the kinetic and strain modal energies distributions were studied. The dynamic equations were resolved using the numerical Newmark method. The dynamic behavior of the bearings and transmission errors for the two gear stages were studied, and, the effect of the disc brake parameters on the transmission error was analyzed. Finally, a frequency sweep analysis was studied to investigate the system resonance problem.

Modal analysis is developed in this paper in order to study the dynamic characteristics of rotating segmented blades assembled with spar. Accordingly, a three dimensional finite element model was built using the three node triangular shell element DKT18, which has six degrees of freedom, to model the blade and the spar structures. This study covers the effect of rotation speed and geometrically nonlinear problems on the vibration characteristics of rotating blade with various pretwist angles. Likewise, the effect of the spar in the blade is taken into consideration. The equation of motion for the finite element model is derived by using Hamilton's principle, while the resulting nonlinear equilibrium equation is solved by applying the Newmark method combined with the Newton Raphson schema. Results show that the natural frequencies increase by taking account of the spar, they are also proportional to the angular rotation speed and influenced by geometric nonlinearity and pretwist angle.

An international benchmark has been organized by EDF R&D during 2008–2010, gathering 11 partners. Its main objective is to quantify the confidence in numericalmodels. The built-up dynamical system considered is a pump actually in service in powerplants, considered in its work environment. Blind eigenfrequency numerical values relativeto the pump assembly fixed in concrete present a larger variability than the 5% roughvariability concerning the separate parts, essentially due to the modeling of the boundaryconditions and interfaces at macro level. For the nine first eigenmodes considered, experimental-numerical correlation shows a frequency error less than 15% for the freesub-structures and nearly 30% for the free five-component system. Though the first overallmodes are correctly identified, the frequency error is significantly larger for theclamped pump assembly, with however MAC coefficients higher than 0.9 for two modes; butthe frequency error can be reduced to less than 9% for the four first modes after updatingprocedure. A lesson to draw is that measurement information is needed to improve thequality of theoretical built-up structure. After this benchmark, a more ambitious researchprogram will follow as a FUI project, gathering the observation of numerical andexperimental variabilities, updating model improvement and numerical quantification of thetotal uncertainty.

This work presents the experimental validation and updating of a flexible multibody model ideated for taking into account installation conditions of industrial serial planar manipulators without resorting to cumbersome modeling. The flexibility of the frame, the manipulator is fixed, is modeled over the flexibility of joints, which is introduced as lumped stiffness. In particular, the flexible frame is included in the model by using the Component Mode Synthesis methodology, in which only the natural modes of vibration and the static constrain modes are accounted. The flexible multibody model has been developed because these commercial machines are mainly used to perform low-speed tasks, and they are designed by taking into account their flexibility at most in the joints. Unfortunately, there are particular installation conditions in which even low-speed tasks can generate low-frequency vibrations that highly interfere with the task. This aspect is considered here, and how to manage this problem is explained by using the developed multibody model. The model is validated through experimental measurements. The experimental tests consist of several modal analyses, together with acceleration and laser Doppler measurements in operational conditions. This methodology takes into account the installation conditions through the model of flexible frame, and gives a tool for studying ad hoc solutions which prevent the occurrence of unwanted low-frequency vibrations.

A new design method for multi-access antennas is presented. This method is based on a modal analysis assuming the microstrip antennas as a resonant cavity. Using this cavity approach, the eigenmodes perturbation induced by the cavity deformation (adding slots or short circuits) is studied. As an application, a solution of multi-access antenna with two ports, with operating frequency bands centered approximately on digital cellular system (DCS) and universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS)/Wi-Fi standards is developed. These two ports are isolated using the previous original design method. In addition to the design method, the innovation of the structure resides on its application in terms of flexibility, reconfigurability, and portability for the future development of a unique system that allows cross services where telephony joined multimedia and online services. The design method and the performances are validated through comparisons between simulations and measurements.

A benchmark is organised to quantify the variability relative to structure dynamicscomputations. The chosen demonstrator is a pump in service in thermal central units, whichis an engineered system with not well-known parameters, considered in its workenvironment. The blind modal characterisation of the separate pump components shows a5%–12% variability on eigenfrequency values and a less than 15% frequency error incomparison with experimental values. The numerical-experimental MAC numbers reach 0.7 atthe maximum, even after updating. An example of modal results on the pump assembly fixedis presented, which shows a larger discrepancy with measurement values, essentially due tothe modelling of the interfaces and boundary condition, and to the possible simplificationof the main components F.E. models to reduce their size. Though a significant frequencyerror, the first overall modes are correctly identified. If this tendency can be confirmedfrom all the participants’ results, the conclusion to be drawn is that, if the predictivecapability of F.E. models to represent the dynamical behaviour of sub-structures issatisfactory, the one relative to structures that are built-up of several components doesnot allow their confident use. Additional information issued from measurements is neededto improve their accuracy.

The goal of our paper is to introduce basis functions for the finite element discretization of a second order linear elliptic operator with rough or highly oscillating coefficients.The proposed basis functions are inspired by the classic idea of componentmode synthesis and exploit an orthogonal decompositionof the trial subspace to minimize the energy. Numerical experiments illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed basis functions.

La connaissance de l'effort de contact entre le pantographe et la caténaire est un élément essentiel de l'évaluation de la qualité du captage du courant. La SNCF étudie cet effort pour qualifier le matériel et les infrastructures nouvelles, ou en vue de détecter les défauts dans la caténaire.La méthode de mesure utilisée jusqu'à présent, basée sur une hypothèse d'archet rigide, a une bande passante limitée bien en deçà de la première fréquence propre de l'archet.Pour franchir cette limitation, notamment pour les trains à grande vitesse, et pour la détection de défaut par analyse de la signature vibratoire, une nouvelle méthodologie, basée sur la prise en compte des modes propres de l'archet, est proposée. Vibratec développe depuis plusieurs années des méthodes inverses [6,7] pour remonter aux efforts injectés à partir des vibrations mesurées. L'originalité du contact pantographe caténaire réside dans le fait que la position du point de contact est une inconnue du problème. La méthode inverse utilisée est basée sur l'analyse modale des premiers modes de l'archet. L'écriture de l'équilibre dynamique de l'archet permet d'aboutir à un système d'équations dont la résolution donne le module de l'effort et son point d'application. Les résultats obtenus sur un dispositif expérimental de validation, à partir d'une base modale limitée aux 3 premiers modes de l'archet, montrent un gain important sur la bande utile de la mesure, qui passe de 45 Hz à 120 Hz. Par la suite, la bande passante pourra encore être étendue en considérant davantage de modes de déformation de l'archet. Un utilitaire a été développé sous Matlab pour la mise en œuvre de la méthode à partir de données expérimentales.

Le présent article traite des interactions fluide/structure dans le domaine des moyennes fréquences. En effet, dans ce domaine fréquentiel, il n'est pas possible de modéliser un système fluide/structure en FEM car la densité modale du milieu fluide est trop importante, ni de le modéliser en SEA car cette modélisation ne serait pas valide. Une méthode hybride FEM/SEA est donc développée : la méthode SEA-like. La méthode SEA-like est une méthode énergétique dont la matrice est calculée avec des méthodes de type "basses fréquences". Les coefficients SEA-like sont calculés avec une condensation dynamique afin de prendre en compte la densité modale importante dans le système. Dans cet article, la matrice SEA-like d'un système couplé plaque/cavité est calculé avec une analyse modale. On obtient alors une expression simplifiée des coefficients SEA-like. La matrice SEA-like est alors validée dans le domaine des basses fréquences avec modélisation FEM du système couplé et dans le domaine des hautes fréquences avec une modélisation SEA du système couplé.

Les méthodes d'homogénéisation ont été utilisées de façon assez courante dans l'industrie nucléaire, en particulier pour la modélisation des faisceaux de tubes. L'application de cette approche à la modélisation numérique d'un réacteur nucléaire, avec prise en compte des effets de couplage et de confinement induits par la présence des structures internes du réacteur, est étudiée dans le présent article. La modélisation est ainsi basée sur une approche homogénéisée de l'interaction fluide/structure entre les structures internes, réparties de façon périodique dans le réacteur, et le fluide contenu entre la structure constituant l'enveloppe résistante et la structure de supportage du cœur. Les bases théoriques de l'approche homogénéisée sont rappelées dans un premier temps et la méthode est ensuite détaillée dans le cas de structures rigides périodiques. La validation numérique de l'approche couplée est établie par comparaison entre une modélisation tridimensionnelle "complète" du réacteur avec détail de la géométrie des structures internes et des espaces fluides et une modélisation bidimensionnelle "réduite" utilisant un fluide homogène équivalent. L'importance des effets de confinement est ainsi mise en évidence dans le cas industriel étudié.

L'analyse vibratoire permet d'appréhender l'état de fonctionnementde machines tournantes. Le signal, enregistré par desaccéléromètres, peut contenir, simultanément, des informations deplusieurs composants rendant difficile l'interprétation de l'état del'un d'entre eux. Dans ce cadre les problèmes inverses s'avèrentêtre un outil intéressant. Ils permettent de revenir à l'informationoriginale à partir d'observations. Leurs instabilités nécessitent ungrand nombre d'observations face au nombre de sources, et demandentl'emploi de méthodes dites de régularisation. Cependant unerégularisation signifie une perte d'information, et l'emploi d'unsystème surdéterminé entraîne une qualité de l'information moindre.Cet article propose de pallier à ces problèmes en optimisant laposition des capteurs de vibration afin de rendre l'inversion laplus exacte possible. Cette optimisation sera obtenue d'une part parune approche numérique, qui nécessite un recalage du modèle, etd'autre part par une approche expérimentale, grâce à l'analysemodale.

Le présent article développe une approche permettant d'évaluer les erreurs statistiques commises sur les paramètres modaux obtenus lors d'une identification déterministe, c'est-à-dire lorsque l'excitation peut être mesurée. À partir des résultats d'une identification, la question de la validité des résultats se pose, en particulier en ce qui concerne les taux d'amortissement, souvent identifiés avec une faible précision. L'évaluation des erreurs sur ces paramètres permet alors de fournir un intervalle de confiance, et par là d'évaluer la qualité de l'identification. À partir de l'algorithme d'identification de sous-espaces N4SID, l'article développe une formulation permettant d'obtenir les erreurs statistiques sur les paramètres obtenus. Cette formulation est ensuite validée et discutée sur l'exemple d'un système masse-ressort-amortisseur à 5 degrés de liberté, puis sur une structure expérimentale représentant un bâtiment à deux étages.

In this paper, we present an experimental and numerical analysis of the influence of gear center distance variation and misalignment amplitude on dynamic response of single stage spur gear transmission systems. The experimental part is conducted on a specific test bench conceived and constructed at LASEM and composed essentially of a motor, a test gearbox and a receptor. It allows the measurement of the acceleration on the motor and receptor bearing shafts for different values of gear center distances and misalignment amplitudes. The numerical study is based on a 3D non-linear model with 36 degrees of freedom including torsional, flexural and axial displacements of the gear-shaft-bearing system. The equations of motion and the contact problem are solved simultaneously using an original procedure by coupling a normal contact algorithm and a numerical Hilbert-Hughes-Taylor schema. Agreement between measurements and calculations is satisfactory and illustrates the influence of these mounting errors on the dynamic behavior of Narrow-Faced Spur Gear.

Nous présentons une analyse modale d'une structure industrielle couplée avec un fluide, en utilisant les techniques numériques de calculs couplés fluide/structure. Compte tenu de la nature axisymétrique de la géométrie et de la nature non axisymétrique des équations de couplage, la modélisation du problème est réalisée au moyen d'éléments finis axisymétriques développés en série de Fourier. Un code de calcul est implanté dans Matlab pour permettre l'analyse modale de la structure. Différentes formulations du problème sont comparées ; les résultats de calcul Matlab sont comparés avec les résultats de calculs obtenus avec le code généraliste Ansys. Les développements mis en œuvre pour cet exemple seront à terme intégrés dans le code Ansys pour l'étude de problèmes couplés en pression/déplacement avec développement en série de Fourier.

De plus en plus fréquemment, l'analyse modale d'une structure en laboratoire est complétée, voire remplacée, par une analyse modale de la structure "en service". Les sollicitations du système sont alors presque toujours inconnues. On pratique alors un mode d'analyse dit "purement stochastique". Les caractéristiques modales identifiées sont alors également de nature stochastique. Les taux d'amortissement, qui déjà, dans des conditions déterministes, sont souvent obtenus avec une faible précision, se trouvent alors fortement sujets à caution. Il est donc souhaitable d'assortir ces résultats d'une fourchette de validité statistique, et cela sans avoir recours à une coûteuse campagne statistique de résultats. Certains auteurs (Viberg, Jansson, ...) ont montré que la procédure d'identification elle-même est capable de fournir cette fourchette. Leur approche est ici mise en application dans le cas de l'identification des amortissements et est prolongée dans le cadre de l'approche stochastique de Van Overshee-De Moor. Deux validations en simulation, et une validation expérimentale sont présentées.

Sur le plan expérimental, l'analyse modale des structures non-linéaires est encore en butte à de nombreuses difficultés. Nous voulons montrer que l'utilisation exclusive de la transformée de Fourier unidimensionnelle ne permet pas d'obtenir les vraies fonctions de transfert nécessaires pour atteindre les fonctionnelles non-linéaires de Volterra. L'analyse jusqu'ici se cantonne dans la majorité des cas à l'obtention des valeurs propres de divers modes non-linéaires. Il est nécessaire d'obtenir par un moyen ou par un autre, les noyaux (ou réponses impulsionnelles) des fonctionnelles permettant d'évaluer les vecteurs propres correspondants. Nous utilisons la technique de multi-excitation pour déterminer les fonctionnelles non-linéaires.

Nous présentons dans cet article la suite des résultats déjà publiés dans la référence [CITE]. Cet article traite de la modélisation de pont ferroviaire soumis à des chargements roulants de type convoi. Une modélisation à l'aide de la méthode de superposition modale et du Lagrangien du système est présentée prenant en compte le poids du convoi, les amortisseurs viscoélastiques des roues ainsi qu'un nombre de travées indéterminé. Les équations couplées du mouvement pont-convoi sont résolues numériquement par la méthode de Newmark avec un calcul itératif. Un exemple d'application est traité à la fin de cet article pour étudier l'influence du nombre de véhicules du convoi sur le comportement dynamique du système pont-convoi, et comparer le déplacement et la vitesse verticaux du pont et des véhicules avec et sans amortissement.

This paper discusses a technique for identifying the joint parameters of a modular robot in order to study the dynamic characteristics of the whole structure and to realise dynamic control. A method for identifying the joint parameters of the structure applying fuzzy logic combined with a genetic algorithm has been studied using a 9-DOF modular redundant robot. A Genetic Algorithm was used in the fuzzy optimisation, which helped to avoid converging to locally optimal solutions and made the results identified much more reasonable. The joint parameters of a 9-DOF modular redundant robot have been identified.

Multielemental X-ray maps collected by a remote scanning system of the electron beam are processed by a dedicated software program performing accurate modal determination of geological samples. The classification of different mineral phases is based on elemental concentrations. The software program Petromod loads the maps into a database and computes a matrix consisting of numerical values proportional to the elemental concentrations. After an initial calibration, the program can perform the chemical composition calculated on the basis of a fixed number of oxygens for a selected area. In this way, it is possible to identify all the mineral phases occurring in the sample. Up to three elements can be selected to calculate the modal percentage of the identified mineral. An automated routine scans the whole set of maps and assigns each pixel that satisfies the imposed requirements to the selected phase. Repeating this procedure for every mineral phase occurring in the mapped area, a modal distribution of the rock-forming minerals can be performed. The final output consists of a digitized image, which can be further analyzed by common image analysis software, and a table containing the calculated modal percentages. The method is here applied to a volcanic and a metamorphic rock sample.
