We study closure properties of measurable ultrapowers with respect to Hamkin’s notion of freshness and show that the extent of these properties highly depends on the combinatorial properties of the underlying model of set theory. In one direction, a result of Sakai shows that, by collapsing a strongly compact cardinal to become the double successor of a measurable cardinal, it is possible to obtain a model of set theory in which such ultrapowers possess the strongest possible closure properties. In the other direction, we use various square principles to show that measurable ultrapowers of canonical inner models only possess the minimal amount of closure properties. In addition, the techniques developed in the proofs of these results also allow us to derive statements about the consistency strength of the existence of measurable ultrapowers with non-minimal closure properties.

We generalise the α-Ramsey cardinals introduced in Holy and Schlicht (2018) for cardinals α to arbitrary ordinals α, and answer several questions posed in that paper. In particular, we show that α-Ramseys are downwards absolute to the core model K for all α of uncountable cofinality, that strategic ω-Ramsey cardinals are equiconsistent with remarkable cardinals and that strategic α-Ramsey cardinals are equiconsistent with measurable cardinals for all α > ω. We also show that the n-Ramseys satisfy indescribability properties and use them to provide a game-theoretic characterisation of completely ineffable cardinals, as well as establishing further connections between the α-Ramsey cardinals and the Ramsey-like cardinals introduced in Gitman (2011), Feng (1990), and Sharpe and Welch (2011).

Several variants of the Halpern–Läuchli Theorem for trees of uncountable height are investigated. For κ weakly compact, we prove that the various statements are all equivalent, and hence, the strong tree version holds for one tree on any weakly compact cardinal. For any finite d ≥ 2, we prove the consistency of the Halpern–Läuchli Theorem on d many normal κ-trees at a measurable cardinal κ, given the consistency of a κ + d-strong cardinal. This follows from a more general consistency result at measurable κ, which includes the possibility of infinitely many trees, assuming partition relations which hold in models of AD.

If S, T are stationary subsets of a regular uncountable cardinal κ, we say that S reflects fully in T, S < T, if for almost all α ∈ T (except a nonstationary set) S ∩ α stationary in α. This relation is known to be a well-founded partial ordering. We say that a given poset P is realized by the reflection ordering if there is a maximal antichain 〈Xp: p ∈ P〉 of stationary subsets of Reg(κ) so that

We prove that if , and P is an arbitrary well-founded poset of cardinality ≤ κ+ then there is a generic extension where P is realized by the reflection ordering on κ.

A stationary subset S of a regular uncountable cardinal κreflects fully at regular cardinals if for every stationary set T ⊆ κ of higher order consisting of regular cardinals there exists an α Є T such that S ∩ α is a stationary subset of α. Full Reflection states that every stationary set reflects fully at regular cardinals. We will prove that under a slightly weaker assumption than κ having the Mitchell order κ++ it is consistent that Full Reflection holds at every λ ≤ κ and κ is measurable.
