Summary
The introduction outlines the central argument of the book that the founders of International Relations (IR) built an academic discipline and, at the same time, designed plans for a new international order. It begins with an overview of the standard disciplinary history of IR as well as the more recent historiography in the field. The second section summarises the contribution of this book and provides some information on sources and methods.
