Summary

In ancient sources, the Homēridai (a performing clan from Chios) are often a focus of reflection on the performance, transmission, and preservation of the Homeric poems, especially as they are compared with (other) rhapsodes. The Homēridai are presented as gatekeepers of the genuine text of the Homeric poems and its performance, transmission, and preservation.
