Summary

Joseph Phibbs's remark about being inspired by the discovery of Paul Griffiths’s New Sounds, New Personalities in his school library encouraged me to hope that the present collection of interviews might have a similar influence on budding British composers of the future. So, for those who will read this as they are either considering whether to enter the profession or are already trying to make their mark in it, I invited the contributors to offer their most important piece of advice.
