Summary

There is a list extant (in Dr Wilson's hand) giving the titles of forty books which he or his friends gave to parochial libraries in the diocese.600 It has recently been printed in M. Perkin, A directory of the parochial libraries of the Church of England and the Church in Wales (London: Bibliographical Society, 2004) p. 443. All but two of these books are mentioned in the convocation records, which also give the dates of acquisition by the libraries. Items 1-27 and 29-34 are in the inventoried list produced in 1725 and printed on pp. 159-61 above. Wilson's handlist is reproduced here with the corresponding numbers in the 1725 inventory (where applicable) and the year of acquisition. More detailed information is provided for the others.
