Rules and Regulations.
1. Designation.
(a) The Club shall be called “Diamond Club.”
(b) Motto: “For love, for friendship, and for society.”
(c) Emblem: Crest showing radiance of Diamond.
2. Object.
The Object of the Club is to promote the Social and intellectual developments and mutual relations among its members.
3. Membership.
Any African of good repute shall be eligible to become a member of the Club provided he shall upon application through the Secretary accompanied by the entrance fee be proposed and seconded by two members. This rule shall not apply to Honorary members.
4. Candidature.
The Name of a candidate for admission as an ordinary member with the name of his proposer and seconder shall be circulated seven days before the meeting at which his admission or rejection shall be decided by a vote. The admission of any person as an ordinary member of the Club shall be two thirds or more majority of votes, and should he be rejected his entrance fee shall be returned to him.
5. Classification of Membership.
Members shall consist of:
(a) Ordinary members
(b) Temporary members
(c) Honorary members
(d) Distant members
5a. An ordinary member is one who is resident in Port Harcourt and regularly pays monthly subscriptions and other necessary dues for the up keep of the Club. He shall enjoy its rights and privileges.
5b. A Temporary member is one who is not resident in Port Harcourt but comes here for a period of about three months or less. Such a member may upon being duly proposed and seconded be admitted as a Temporary Member of the Club and shall be eligible to the privileges of members except as to voting. Temporary members may not pay entrance fees but will be liable to pay other dues as members. Any gentleman in this category loses his membership immediately he leaves the Township.
5c. A Hon. member is one who is invited by the Club to be a Patron, etc. He is liable neither for entrance fee nor for monthly subscriptions but his donations or services shall be gladly accepted by the Club.
