When Thou dost take
this sacred Book into thy hand;
Think not that Thou
th’ included sence dost understand.
2
It is a signe
thou wantest sound Intelligence;
If that Thou think
thy selfe to understand the Sence.
3
Bee not deceived
Thou then on it in vain mayst gaze
The way is intricate
that leads into a Maze.
4

to an Understanding Eye:
Where Reverence alone stands Ope,
And Sence stands By.
