We show that some results of L. Makar-Limanov, P. Malcolmson and Z. Reichstein on the existence of free-associative algebras are valid in the more general context of varieties of algebras.

Wick polynomials and Wick products are studied in the context of noncommutative probability theory. It is shown that free, Boolean, and conditionally free Wick polynomials can be defined and related through the action of the group of characters over a particular Hopf algebra. These results generalize our previous developments of a Hopf-algebraic approach to cumulants and Wick products in classical probability theory.

The purpose of this paper is to define an α-type cohomology, which we call α-type Chevalley–Eilenberg cohomology, for Hom-Lie algebras. We relate it to the known Chevalley–Eilenberg cohomology and provide explicit computations for some examples. Moreover, using this cohomology, we study formal deformations of Hom-Lie algebras, where the bracket as well as the structure map α are deformed. Furthermore, we provide a generalization of the grand crochet and study, in a particular case, the α-type cohomology for Hom-Lie bialgebras.

The purpose of this paper is to give a characterisation of divided power algebras over a reduced operad. Such a characterisation is given in terms of polynomial operations, following the classical example of divided power algebras. We describe these polynomial operations in two different ways: one way uses invariant elements under the action of the symmetric group and the other coinvariant elements. Our results are then applied to the case of level algebras, which are (non-associative) commutative algebras satisfying the exchange law.

The exceptional simple Lie algebras of types E7 and E8 are endowed with optimal $\mathsf{SL}_2^n$ -structures, and are thus described in terms of the corresponding coordinate algebras. These are nonassociative algebras which much resemble the so-called code algebras.

Let p be an odd prime and let G be a non-abelian finite p-group of exponent p2 with three distinct characteristic subgroups, namely 1, Gp and G. The quotient group G/Gp gives rise to an anti-commutative 𝔽p-algebra L such that the action of Aut (L) is irreducible on L; we call such an algebra IAC. This paper establishes a duality G ↔ L between such groups and such IAC algebras. We prove that IAC algebras are semisimple and we classify the simple IAC algebras of dimension at most 4 over certain fields. We also give other examples of simple IAC algebras, including a family related to the m-th symmetric power of the natural module of SL(2, 𝔽).

Jean-Louis Loday introduced a class of symmetric operads generated by one bilinear operation subject to one relation making each left-normed product of three elements equal to a linear combination of right-normed products: $({{a}_{1}}{{a}_{2}}){{a}_{3}}\,=\,\sum{{{_{\sigma }}_{\in {{s}_{3}}}}\,}{{x}_{\sigma }}\,{{a}_{\sigma \,(1)}}({{a}_{\sigma (2)\,}}{{a}_{\sigma (3)}})$. Such an operad is called a parametrized one-relation operad. For a particular choice of parameters $\{{{x}_{\sigma }}\}$, this operad is said to be regular if each of its components is the regular representation of the symmetric group; equivalently, the corresponding free algebra on a vector space $V$ is, as a graded vector space, isomorphic to the tensor algebra of $V$. We classify, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, all regular parametrized one-relation operads. In fact, we prove that each such operad is isomorphic to one of the following five operads: the left-nilpotent operad defined by the relation $(({{a}_{1}}{{a}_{2}}){{a}_{3}})\,=\,0$, the associative operad, the Leibniz operad, the dual Leibniz (Zinbiel) operad, and the Poisson operad. Our computational methods combine linear algebra over polynomial rings, representation theory of the symmetric group, and Gröbner bases for determinantal ideals and their radicals.

Plus généralement, on associe à un élément de degré impair de l’algèbre extérieure de la somme directe de $F$ et ${{F}^{*}}$, une collection d’applications multilinéaires antisymétriques sur l’algèbre extérieure de $F$ (resp. ${{F}^{*}}$), qui vérifient les identités de Jacobi généralisées, définissant les algèbres de Lie d’homotopie, si l’élément donné est de carré nul pour le grand crochet de l’algèbre extérieure de la somme directe de $F$ et de ${{F}^{*}}$.
