For $p\geq 2$, let $E$ be a 2-uniformly smooth and $p$-uniformly convex real Banach space and let $A:E\rightarrow E^{\ast }$ be a Lipschitz and strongly monotone mapping such that $A^{-1}(0)\neq \emptyset$. For given $x_{1}\in E$, let $\{x_{n}\}$ be generated by the algorithm $x_{n+1}=J^{-1}(Jx_{n}-\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}Ax_{n})$, $n\geq 1$, where $J$ is the normalized duality mapping from $E$ into $E^{\ast }$ and $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}$ is a positive real number in $(0,1)$ satisfying suitable conditions. Then it is proved that $\{x_{n}\}$ converges strongly to the unique point $x^{\ast }\in A^{-1}(0)$. Furthermore, our theorems provide an affirmative answer to the Chidume et al. open problem [‘Krasnoselskii-type algorithm for zeros of strongly monotone Lipschitz maps in classical Banach spaces’, SpringerPlus4 (2015), 297]. Finally, applications to convex minimization problems are given.

This result generalizes the classical Haar-Rado theorem forLipschitz functions.

We show how to make precise the vague idea that for compact metric spaces that are close together for Gromov–Hausdorff distance, suitable vector bundles on one metric space will have counterpart vector bundles on the other. Our approach employs the Lipschitz constants of projection-valued functions that determine vector bundles. We develop some computational techniques, and we illustrate our ideas with simple specific examples involving vector bundles on the circle, the two-torus, the two-sphere, and finite metric spaces. Our topic is motivated by statements concerning “monopole bundles” over matrix algebras in the literature of theoretical high-energy physics.

 $$ \inf\left\{F^{**}(y)=\int_a^bL^{**}(y(t),y'(t))\,{\rm d}t:\,y\in AC([a,b],\Bbb R^N), y(a)=A,\,y(b)=B\right\}\cdot \quad\;\ \! (P^{**})$$ We give a sufficient condition, weaker then superlinearity, under which $\inf F=\inf F^{**}$ if L is just continuous in x. We then extend a result of Cellina on the Lipschitz regularity of the minima of (P) when L is not superlinear.

We show a result slightly more general than the following. Let $K$ be a compact Hausdorff space, $F$ a closed subset of $K$, and $d$ a lower semi-continuous metric on $K$. Then each continuous function $f$ on $F$ which is Lipschitz in $d$ admits a continuous extension on $K$ which is Lipschitz in $d$. The extension has the same supremum norm and the same Lipschitz constant.

As a corollary we get that a Banach space $X$ is reflexive if and only if each bounded, weakly continuous and norm Lipschitz function defined on a weakly closed subset of $X$ admits a weakly continuous, norm Lipschitz extension defined on the entire space $X$.

The Rank Theorem is proved for locally Lipschitz continuous functions f:Rn → Rp with generalized derivative of constant rank.
