Stigma, including beliefs about mental illness, can operate in different cultures in different ways, making Western theoretical bases considered “universal” on the stigmatization of theories not applicable to non-Western cultures; hence the need for international studies on this subject.

This work aimed to assess knowledge of mental illness, available treatments and recovery in a non-clinical sample of Tunisian university students.

In a cross-sectional descriptive study from October 1 to November 30, 2019, we evaluated 714 students from 3 Tunisian public universities using the Mental Health Knowledge Schedule scale (MAKS).

We found that 34.2% of students did not agree that drugs can be an effective treatment for people with mental health issues, while 76.4% agreed on the effectiveness of psychotherapy. In addition, 34.3% did not consider drug addiction as a mental illness and 21.9% did not consider depression as a mental illness. We objectified a significant correlation of the MAKS score with gender (p=0.019), living environment (p=0.001), high academic level of father (p=0.000) and mother (p=0.027) and presence of personal psychiatric history (p=0.013).

Awareness and information campaigns aimed at developing the general public’s knowledge of the scientific, medical and psychosocial causes of mental illness and the means of management should be established.

A signifiant proportion of adolescents and young adults suffer from mental disorders that interfere with their development and influence their academic and professional succes.

To describe the soscio-demographic and clinical profile of tunisian students who have consulted in the psycho-pedagogy unit.

A retrospective descriptive study, data were collected from the files of 359 pupils and students having consulted in the psycho-pedagogy unit of the psychiatry (B) department of the Hedi Chaker university hospital of Sfax in Tunisia, from 2014 to 2018.

The average age of students was 20.38 ±2.38 years old. The Sex ratio = 0.95 (175 M / 184 W). Students were undergraduates in 55.4 of the cases. THey are smokers in 19% and consume alcohol in 7% of case. A family psychiatric history was present in 34% of students and personal history in 25%. A difficult childhood was found in77.5% of patients and their academic results were low (< 10/20) in 54%. Adjustement disorders were the most frequent disorders in psycho-educationel counseling (47% of case). The most prescribed psychotropic drugs were antidepressants (31.8%) followed by anxiolytics (23.7%) and the withdrawel syndrome was found in 18% of patients.

A students with a difficult childhood, low academic results and adjustement disorders such is the profile most frequently encountered among patients consulting the psychopedagogy unit. In this way,the promotion and protection of adolescent’s health particulary pupils and students benefits not only for their own health, but also for the economic and the society.

The World Health Organization (WHO) set a target of task shifting as a means of achieving improved mental health services within the community as a means of tackling the unmet needs of mental health care. Primary health care workers (PHCWs) have been identified as essential to achieving this goal.

This study was to identify attitudes and beliefs of PHCWs on mental illness, and to assess the effect of a mental health training on these attitudes and beliefs.

The attitude towards mental illness (ASMI) scale was administered on 91 PHCWs pre- and post- a 4 day training on mental health to assess change in attitude across 6 domains.

Our findings revealed significant positive change in four domains, namely separatism (p = < 0.001), restrictiveness (p = < 0.001), benevolence (p = p =< 0.001) and stigmatization (p = < 0.001). The changes in stereotyping (p = 0.475) and pessimistic prediction (p = 0.056) domains were not clinically significant.

Primary health care workers’ negative attitude and stigmatizing beliefs can be improved upon via regular enlightenment programmes and training. This can be done at regular intervals

Prenatal maternal stress is an important phenomenon. Evidence on this topic suggests that women who experience high stress during pregnancy are more likely to deliver preterm infants.

The goal of this study was to evaluate the influence of Yoga exercises training on stress reduction during pregnancy.

In the current study we included 20 women who participated in the Yoga exercises training during pregnancy. The control group included 20 women who were in the reading control condition during pregnancy. Women were eligible to participate if they were experiencing elevated levels of perceived stress or pregnancy-specific anxiety (PSA), as indicated by responses to the Perceived Stress Scale and the PSA scale on a screening questionnaire. Women enrolled between 12 and 26 weeks gestation were randomly assigned to either the Yoga exercises training or to the reading control condition. Effects of training were analyzed by means of an ANOVA with repeated measurements.

ANOVA has revealed (p<.05) that women in the Yoga exercises training experienced larger decreases from pre- to postintervention in pregnancy-specific anxiety and pregnancy-related anxiety than participants in the reading control condition.

This pilot study suggests that Yoga exercises training during pregnancy can effectively reduce pregnancy-related anxiety. However, it is necessary to do further research on the impact of Yoga exercises on stress reduction during pregnancy.

Under COVID-19 lockdown, mostly all organizations in non-productive sphere had to implement distant work forms. The personnel obligatory and rapidly switched to unknown work conditions and faced new stressors: COVID-19 fears, unstable internet connections, tensed communications, permanent noise, work hours extension. In order to cope with increased daily stress, the new version of self-regulation training program (Leonova, Kuznetsova, 2019) was implemented in distant format in order to train people: to evaluate the impact of distant work stressors; to measure stress manifestations during work hours; to choose self-regulation skills, effective for distant stress reduction.

In order to verify the distant training program, the empirical study was conducted, targeted to estimate effectiveness of self-regulation means during COVID-19 pandemic period.

The program included progressive relaxation exercises as means for anxiety reduction and negative emotions control, and autogenic exercises for achievement an optimal for different work situations mental state. The empirical data were obtained by diagnostic methods for self-assessment of the main distant stress manifestations: anxiety and high fatigue (Spielberger, 1994, Leonova, 2012).

The program verification was conducted in employees of municipal administration offices (n = 214). The empirical data revealed high effectiveness of relaxation and autogenic means in decrease of anxiety (t=8,64; p<0,001) and fatigue (t=9,18; p<0,001).

The first variant of distant program could be recommended for stress-management under pandemic lockdown. At the same time, advanced evaluating procedures are necessary to measure the coping effect of such programs, and to prove stress-reduction capacities of specialized distant training modules.

Pediatric acute bacterial meningitis is a life-threatening illness that results from bacterial infection of the meninges and leaves some survivors with significant sequelae. Given the potential trauma induced by the disease itself and the hospitalization, it is important to have an insight on how the parents cope with this aversive event, and especially how they give sense to this experience.

(1) To explore the lived experience of close family ascendants whose child or grandchild had survived acute bacterial meningitis (2) To investigate how they give meaning to this specific experience.

Participants were recruited through two association of persons affected by meningitis. Convenience sample of eleven family ascendants. Their family descendants were aged between 0.2 and 20 years old at the time of the meningitis diagnosis (M= 4.1, SD= 7.3). In average, 9.4 years had passed between the onset of illness and the relative’s interview (SD= 5.4).

6 superordinate themes and 2 meaning-making processes were identified: 1. Sick child becoming a “hero” (comparison with other children). 2. Engaged action/attitude: finding the “positive” of the traumatic experience and engaged action to improve the care system.

This is one of the first studies exploring the first-hand experience of family ascendants confronted to acute bacterial meningitis. Findings highlighted factors characterising the disease experience and the psychological adjustment of meningitis survivors’ families. They demonstred (1) the multidimensional impact of the disease on family ascendants and their need for professional psychological support, (2) the importance of direct involvement of parents in identifying key aspects of care.

The usage of mobile phones has seen exponential growth worldwide.1,2 While college students use mobile applications for educational purposes, the reports of adverse health problems are emerging.3,4

Investigate the impact of mobile usage patterns on the life of medical students and its association with psychiatric effects concerning ringxiety and nomophobia.

Data was collected from the 300 medical students of Ashwini Rural Medical College of India through a survey for this cross-sectional study. Chi-square (χ2) was used for statistics that revealed association, mobile phone usage patterns, including time spent before sleep, in classrooms or clinics, and frequency of update checks.

A significant association was found between time spent on mobile before sleep and duration of sleep, and mobile usage in classrooms or clinics and psychological effects (p<0.0001). Significant association observed between mobile use in classes or clinics and the frequency of update checks, and the frequency of update checks and psychological effects (p<0.0001). About 78% of participants distracted in self-study due to mobile. Updates checked every 10 minutes by 14.7%, every hourly by 43%, and during breaks by 42.3%. Mobile low network caused anxiety (13.3%) and irritability (67.3%). About 41.7% of students couldn’t abstain from mobile use for a day. Every student used the mobile phone averagely for 24 minutes before they went to sleep.

Our study results highlight the prevalence of ringxiety and nomophobia in medical school students. With the surging dependency on mobile phones and technology, we need to cautiously monitor its adverse effects on psychology and psychiatric conditions.

The immediate antidepressant effect of Ketamine has become a breakthrough in the treatment of depression. Cytochrome CYP3A4 and 2B6 primarily metabolize Ketamine.

The present study explores potential pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions of Lamotrigine and Ketamine.

A literature search was conducted using (“ketamine” OR “Lamotrigine” AND Interactions in PubMed, Embase, and PsycINFO. Our literature search resulted in 72 hits and result in qualified five studies.

We found five studies: one RCT study, a RCT, a crossover design, Two case reports, and one murine model study. In the first RCT conducted on 16 healthy normal volunteer subjects. lamotrigine significantly decreased ketamine-induced perceptual abnormalities (P < 0.001), positive (P < 0.001) and negative symptoms (P < 0.05), and learning and memory impairment (P < 0.05) which shows the counter effect of ketamine. Another study revealed Ketamine evoked increases in all the BPRS subscale scores, and all scores were lower after lamotrigine pretreatment. A case report from 2014 reports the failure of ketamine anesthesia in a patient with lamotrigine overdose. Another case report mentions that Lamotrigine reduced the craving in a patient with ketamine use disorder. A murine model study with lamotrigine showed improved PPI (Prepulse inhibition) ketamine-induced disruption. These results suggest that Lamotrigine may exert this effect via a glutamatergic system.

The literature review suggests that Lamotrigine interferes with glutamatergic neurotransmission reducing the effect of Ketamine. It is not clear how this may impact Ketamine’s antidepressant action. Future large scale and well-designed RCTs are required to confirm these findings.

Stress can be described as a dynamic and reciprocal relationship between the person and the environment. Nursing is considered as an occupation with a constellation of circumstances leading to stress.

This study aims to assess perceived stress among staff nurses in Hedi Chaker and Habib bourguiba Hospital from Sfax city, Tunisia

Nurses from Hedi Chaker and Habib bourguiba University hospitals in Sfax- Tunisia were invited to complete a structured self-report questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of the following parts: Perceived Stress Scale (10-item form), personal data and information relevant to types of work shifts and years of experience.

A total of 146 (males = 49; females = 97) nurses participated in this study. The mean age was 37 years. Nearly 82 % of the participants considered themselves in very good health. Rotating shifts work was noted in 72.50% of cases. The average length of working experience was 7.96 years. The stress in most of nurses was in severe level (74.65%), followed by mild (23.28%) and moderate (2.05%) levels. High level of perceived stress was significantly associated with general health problems (P= 0.032). No significant association was found between level of perceived stress, types of work shifts and years of experience.

The results show a significantly high level of stress among staff nurses. Hence, nurses need support and subsequent interventions to cope with stress. Actions in this direction may contribute to the improvement of health, well-being and quality of life of the professionals.

Collaboration between psychiatrists and psychologists (counsellors) is one of the key factors impacting efficiency of services in child and youth mental health. Despite the clear benefits, a teamwork approach is still limited and has some difficulties.

The objective of the study was to explore potential barriers in the collaboration between professionals with different backgrounds.

Anonymous online survey for staff from various mental health clinics across Russia was completed by 142 psychologists and 70 psychiatrists (Σ =212).

77.7% participants reported that collaboration is helpful in adult mental health services; 91.3% see partnership as an essential part of child and youth mental health. 61.6% specialists work together; 44.7% described it as a successful experience. At the same time 58.4% believe that pharmacological treatment should start first, and counselling may be postponed. 49.5% believe that doctors often diminish the importance of counselling. Fears and biases towards psychiatrists were reported by 28.9% of the sample. 25.4% participants reported lack of trust and limited understanding of counselling methods. Top barriers for collaboration that were reported: lack of opportunities on an organizational level (20% doctors and 45% psychologists), unclear professional boundaries and responsibilities (28.5% doctors and 15.4% psychologists), lack of motivation (20% doctors and 7% psychologists), lack of positive experience (11.2% psychologist and 0% doctors). The main reported benefit of collaboration by 39.6% was improved compliance and better treatment outcomes.

In order to make collaboration among mental health professional more efficient, there is a need to address the barriers listed above.

Athletes have participated in sports and physical exercise for several decades as a coping strategy to alleviate mental health and behavioral issues. The increasing prevalence of psychiatric disorders among athletes attributed to the failure of its appropriate management.

Our goal is to identify barriers in diagnosing and treating psychiatric problems among sportspersons to educate clinicians about the potential risk factors for athletes’ mental health disorders to provide optimal medical care.

We examined MeSH terms “Athletes,” “Sports,” “Risk Factors,” “Diagnosis,” and “Patient Care Management,” in the context of “Mental Health,” “Mental Disorders,” “sports psychiatry,” and “diagnostic barriers.” We included 23 studies per the PRISMA guidelines, searching Medline, PubMed, PubMed Central, and PsychInfo databases until August 2020.

Barriers managing psychiatric disorders in athletes are overtraining syndrome, compensatory training, idolizing, negative coping mechanisms, social stigma, injuries, and performance-enhancing supplements usage. Other factors attributed to diagnostic barriers are general perceptions, age, racial and gender disparities, poor health services, interpersonal issues, patient-therapist relationships, sense of entitlement, control or confidentiality problems, and lack of quality preventative measures. Risk factors are injuries, sports type, doping, substance abuse, lifestyle, failures in achievement, eating disorders, and maladaptive coping mechanisms.

These barriers in psychiatric care have adversely impacted the mental health of sportspersons. Athletes have deviated from their careers and lost valuable periods of their lives due to inadequate attention to sports psychiatry aspects, such as cognitive health services, inclusive sports management measures, diagnostic and treatment approaches, reliable mental health services, and public awareness programs.

Establishing broad spectrum of new mental health services in whole Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH) existing mental health laws in both entities needed to be upgrade according positive results of the mental health reform in the country. Previous laws were exclusivelly oriented on protection of rights of the people with mental health disorders in (mainly) psychiatric institutions and were progressive and new in the period of their implementation (2001-2004).

Since 2010 main reform processes had direction to community mental health care and developed positive movement with implementing new services oriented to patients and their needs/continuity of care. For example case management and occupational therapy are part of daily work in whole country and standards established trough accreditation process lead to uniform approach in community work in the area of mental health.

Comparative analysis of laws in BH concerning mental health.

Carefuly and good preparation for pronounce of new Mental Health Law both in Republic of Srpska and Federation of BH were supported from both entities (task forces, drafts and proposition of the law and public discussion) and they are formaly supported in both entities parliaments in 2020 (prolonged since COVID-19 situation). In both laws is more emphasised role of commnity services, prevention, and post-hospital rehabilitation as continuity of care. Book of rules that follow the laws will be establish no longer than the end of 2020.

New mental health laws in BH are path to better protection of mental health of all population in BH and rights of our patients’ recovery.

Compared to specialized care, primary care is considered to be more accessible, less stigmatizing, and more comprehensive since it manages physical ailments along with mental disorders (MD). Thus, MD are mainly treated by general practitioners (GP), even though their ability to diagnose and treat these diseases is often considered unsatisfactory.

This study aimed to analyze perceptions of GP capacity to manage MD, and to assess the difficulties encountered during this management.

A cross-sectional web-based survey design was adopted between August 22 and September 23, 2020, so that 47 responses of GP were included.

The mean age of respondents was 37.3 years. Among them, only 17% attended a post-university psychiatric training. On average, 6.3% of GP visits were MD-related. Anxious disorders and depression were perceived as very frequent respectively in 82.9% and 40.4% of cases. Among GP, 17% considered bipolar disorder as a difficult pathology to diagnose, followed by schizophrenia (12.7%), while the pathologies perceived to be most difficult to treat were dementia (17%), acute agitations (14.9%) and schizophrenia (10.6%). Anxiolytics and antidepressants use was very frequent (40.4% and 27.7% respectively), and 34% needed training in antipsychotics prescription. Difficulties encountered during MD management were related to lack of psychiatric continuing education (19.4%) and lack of collaboration with mental health professionals (12.5%). Among participants, 93.6% requested a psychiatric training: theoretical 29.3%, practice exchange 24.7%.

Our study confirmed that MD related visits are common in primary care and highlighted several obstacles in their management. Further continuous education, training,and collaboration between practitioners is required.

Physical and psychological health, social relationships and professional environment determine the quality of life of nurses.

This study aims to evaluate the quality of life of Hospital nurses and to identify the factors that influenced this assessment.

We conducted a cross-sectional study concerning nurses who answered a questionnaire developed and structured in order to assess the quality of life and with the appliance of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Instrument (WHOQoL-BREF). The statistical processing was done with IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 21.0.

Most of the nurses were women (78.30%), married (81.70%) and with a specialization degree (65 %). The mean age of the study population was 50.20 years (±7.20 years). Most of them considered their quality of life good or very good (46.7%) and were satisfied or very satisfied with their health (48.4%). There is a significant association between quality of life and satisfaction with life (p=0.000). The average score of Physical health was 55.76(±13.89). The average scale of Psychological health was 61.45 (±15.14). A significant correlation was observed between lack of antecedents and a better physical health (p=0.000).The psychological health was correlated with age (p=0.000) and social relationships (p=0.000).

Studying the quality of life of nurses is particularly important, since it can lead to the development of a policy for improving the working conditions in the public sector.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to impact all aspects of the daily life of the public worldwide. With decreased economic activity, the sports industry faces significant challenges of maintaining athletes’ mental health while seeking the best strategies for eventual return to sports competition.

We aim to evaluate COVID-19 related factors impacting on the mental health of athletes and provide appropriate management steps.

We examined MeSH terms “Athletes,” “Sports,” “COVID-19,” in the context of “Mental Health,” “Mental Disorders,” “Behavioral Medicine,” “Risk Factors.” We identified seven studies for the qualitative synthesis per the PRISMA guidelines, searching Medline, PubMed, PubMed Central, and PsychInfo databases until July 2020.

The pandemic has negatively impacted athletes’ mental wellbeing due to decreased physical activities, limited resources, fears, and delays or cancellations of the sporting event. The negative psychological impact on athletes is due to self-isolation measures leading to worries of less preparedness for the lockdown, reduced physical activity, loss of competitive advantages, fear of being infected, social isolation, and loneliness. During this period, athletes struggled to maintain baseline routine and engaged in excessive calorie intake, eating low-quality food, substance use, and sleep disruption. It has caused anxiety, depression, PTSD, and mood disorder at varying degrees of severity in athletes.

Limited resources during a pandemic have caused adverse mental impact on athletes. We recommend improving physical activity through confined or virtual training programs with colleagues. A collaborative approach is required by clinicians, psychologists, coaches, sports organizations, government bodies to limit the pandemic’s mental health impact.

The effects on the population’s mental health due to the rapid global spread of COVID-19 are even greater for specific groups such as pregnant women.

To compare levels of depressive and anxiety symptoms of pregnant women before vs. during the COVID-19 pandemic and to analyze the role of COVID-19 fear in perinatal psychological disorder.

200 Brazilian women evaluated during the pandemic in May-June 2020 (Sample-1) with the Brazilian Covid-19 Fear Scale for the Perinatal Period (Barros et al. 2020) and Screening for Perinatal Depression and the Perinatal Anxiety Crawl Scale, both with α> .90. Sample-1 was compared with a sample of 300 Portuguese women; these responded to the same questionnaires, before the pandemic, in 2017 and 2018 (Sample-2).

Sample-1 had significantly higher mean scores of depression (52.73 ± 20.26 vs. 35.87 ± 16.98, t = 10.77, p <.001) and anxiety (36.58 ± 18.23 vs. 18.50 ± 13.71, t = 11.94, p <.001) and correlated significantly (p <.05) and moderate (r.30) with the fear of COVID-19. Hierarchical regression analyzes showed that, even after controlling for the effect of risk factors for PPP (Pereira et al. 2020), fear of COVID-19 is a significant predictor of depressive symptomatology levels (increments of 2-5%) and anxious (10-15%) during the pandemic.

The Sample-1 being from a different country may be a confusing factor, however, the magnitude of differences in PPP levels and the relevant role of fear in COVID-19, alert us to be aware of perinatal mental health.

Multiple hospitalisations towards the end of life is an indicator of poor-quality care. Understanding the characteristics of patients who experience hospitalisations at the end-of-life and how they vary is important for improved care planning.

To describe socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of patients diagnosed with serious mental illness who experienced multiple hospitalisations in the last 90 days of life.

Data for all adult patients with a diagnosis of serious mental illness who died in 2018-2019 in England, UK were extracted from the National Mental Health Services Data Set linked with Hospital Episode Statistics and death registry data. Variables of interest included age, gender, marital status, underlying and contributory cause of death, ethnicity, place of death, deprivation status, urban-rural indicator, and patient’s region of residence. The number of hospitalisations and patient’s sociodemographic & clinical were described using descriptive statistics and percentages, respectively.

Of the 45924 patients, 38.1% (n=17505, Male=42.9%, Female=57.1%, Mean age:78.4) had at least one hospitalisation in the last 90 days of life. The median number of hospitalisations was 2(StdDev:1.64, Minimum=1,Maximum=23). Most of those hospitalised (n=11808, 67.5%), died in a health care establishment (e.g. Hospital or hospice). There were marked geographic differences in the proportions of hospitalisations.The North West region of England recorded the most hospitalisations (n= 2906,16.6%), compared to other regions.

Further analysis is needed to understand factors independently associated with hospitalisations in people with serious mental illness. Funding: This project is supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaborations (ARC) South London.

In the United States, students who attend early-entrance to college programs (EECP) undergo a unique, accelerated educational path. Many of these programs require students to forego their final years of high school to take dual-enrollment classes while residing on a college campus. While previous literature has documented mental health outcomes among traditional college and high school student populations, there is scarce literature on the mental health among this hybrid population in the United States.

Investigate anxiety and depression among students enrolled in EECPs in the United States.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 item (GAD-7) and Patient Health Questionnaire-8 item (PHQ-8) were asked in 3 sets for how students felt before, during, and after their attendance in their EECP.

66 alumni students who graduated from an EECP were surveyed after giving informed consent. GAD-7 average scores before the students attended was 4.83 (median = 4, “mild anxiety”), during attendance was to 11.5 (median = 12, “moderately-severe anxiety”), and currently was 6.95 (median = 6, “moderate anxiety”). PHQ-8 scores for depression before attending were 5.1 (median = 4, “mild to potentially moderate depression”, during the program 10.9 (median 11.5, “moderately severe depression”), and current PHQ-8 was 16 (median = 16, “severe depression”).

Anxiety and depression seem to have a presence in this student population, compared to traditional college student populations, but different compared to international cohorts. Academic rigor was a notable driving force of these outcomes, differing from the literature on traditional college student populations.

Clinical pathways (CPWs) are tools used to guide evidence-based healthcare. They translate clinical practice guideline recommendations into clinical processes of care within the characteristics of a healthcare institution. There are few studies about the impact of CPW in the field of Psychosis in terms of adequacy to their recommendations and clinical outcomes.

PSYCHSTAGE project has been designed to study the adjustment of psychosis clinical care to a CPW based in a Clinical Practice Guideline according to a clinical staging model in a network of psychiatric services covering 580.000 inhabitants in a University Hospital in Madrid.

Retrospective and observational study in a sample of 1780 subjects 18 years old or above, diagnosed with schizophrenia and other psychosis. Socio-demographic and clinical variables were collected from clinical records, including ICG, GAF and DAS at the time they were included in the study. Clinical stage was established according to McGorry model at the same time. CPW was analysed in 1,391 subjects with 15,254 care events using a Process mining method. Process discovery, process checking and process enhancement analysis have been used.

Patients were grouped according the clinical stage. 9,2% were in stage 2; 18,5% in 3a; 47% in 3b; 22,1% in 3c and 4,1% in 4. A different CPW is represented for each clinical stage in routine practice. Then, every pathway is compared with the recommendations in the established Psychosis CPW.

Process mining can be a useful tool for the study of CPW in the field of psychosis

Discontinuity in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and adult mental health services (AMHS) constitutes an important challenge in mental health care. In the last decade, efforts have been made to better define the transitioning population and build consensual models for CAMHS-AMHS’ transition.

We aim to present our protocol and transition consultation results on the scope of published literature.

Description of protocol and casuistic of 18 months’ transition consultation at Centro Hospitalar Barreiro-Montijo. The literature found on PubMed was published from 2008 to 2020 and was reviewed using the keywords: transition, CAMHS, AMHS, adolescent, mental health service, young people. Articles with full text available written in English and French were selected. The included clinical studies focused on populations with neurodevelopmental disorders, psychotic disorders, non-suicidal self-harm and suicidal attempts.

Forty-four articles were included, published from 2008 to 2020. 4 articles were excluded on basis of language and diagnosis criteria (eating disorders). Twelve were reviews, 24 were clinical studies and 4 were opinion articles. There are cultural and referral issues that explain the loss of patients in this transition gap. Individuals with history of severe mental illness were more frequently referred than those with neurodevelopmental disorders. Optimal transition is defined as adequate transition planning with a flexible age cut-off and continuity of care following transition.

For the vast majority of service users, transition from CAMHS to AMHS is poorly planned, executed and experienced. Improving transition models is essential to the patients autonomy’ promotion and a stronger adult mental health.
