Telepsychiatry (TP) can provide an alternative to traditional face-to-face (FTF) assessments. However, TP in the emergency room setting is much less prevalent, probably due to lack of solid evidence about its effectiveness and acceptability.

To directly compare traditional FTF and TP modalities in the emergency room setting.

Psychiatric patients (n=38) presented to the emergency room went through traditional in-person and videoconference TP interviews in varying order. Both FTF and TP interviewers that examined the patients as well as a third psychiatrist, acting as an observer for both modalities, determined the diagnosis, disposition recommendation and indication for involuntary admission.

Rater decisions had a high matching on disposition and indication for involuntary admission (Cohen’s Kappa (CK) of 0.84/0.81, 0.95/0.87 and 0.89/0.94 for FTF-TP, Observer-FTF and Observer-TP, respectively). Although identical diagnosis matching between the raters was relatively low, the partial diagnosis matching was high (CK of 0.52/0.81, 0.52/0.85 and 0.56/0.85 for FTF-TP, Observer-FTF and Observer-TP, respectively). Telepsychiatry assessments had comparable acceptability in items such as psychiatrists’ certainty and interviewers’ and patients’ satisfaction.

TP and FTF psychiatric assessments in the emergency room settings have similar validity and acceptability. Implementation of TP in emergency room settings might improve the mental health services’ quality and access especially for remote populations. TP is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable treatment for epidemiologically isolated patients and to protect the medical personnel.

Suicide in adolescents represents a major public health concern. To date, a growing number of suicide preventive strategies based on the use of new technologies are emerging.

The purpose of the present paper is to provide an overview of the present literature on the use of new technologies in adolescent suicide prevention.

A systematic electronic search was run using the following keywords: Technology OR Technologies OR APP OR Application OR mobile application) AND (Adolescent OR youth OR puberty) AND (Suicid* OR Self-harm OR self-destruction).

We found 12 studies on the use of telemedicine, 7 on mobile applications, and 3 on language detection. Heterogeneity regarding the study design was found: 3 Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT), 13 are Open-label single group trials, 2 Randomized studies, and 1 Cross-sectional study. Telemedicine was the most adopted tool, especially web-based approaches. Mobile applications mostly focused on screening of depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation, and for clinical monitoring through the use of text messages.

Despite telepsychiatry and mobile applications can provide a fast and safe tool, only a few studies demonstrated efficacy in preventing suicide among adolescents through the use of these interventions. Some studies suggested sophisticated algorithms able to recognize people at risk for suicide from language detection on social media posts. To date, only a few data support the use of such interventions in clinical practice and preventive strategies. Further studies are needed to test their efficacy in suicide prevention among adolescents and young adults.

There is a significant relation between old-age depression and subsequent dementia in patients aged 50. This supports the hypothesis of old-age depression being a predictor, and possibly a causal factor, of subsequent dementia. The number of people aged 60 years and over has tripled since 1950, reaching 16% in 2050, leading to new medical challenges. Depression is the most common mental disorder in older adults, affecting 7% of the older population. Dementia is the second most common with about 5% prevalence worldwide, but it is the first leading cause of disease burden.

Early detection and treatment is essential in promoting remission, preventing relapse, and reducing emotional burden. Speech is a well established early indicator of cognitive deficits. Speech processing methods offer great potential to fully automatically screen for prototypic indicators of both dementia and depressive disorders.

We present two different methods to detect pathological speech with artificial neural networks. We use both deep architectures, as well as more traditional machine learning approaches.

The models developed using a two-stage deep architecture achieved 59% classification accuracy on the test set from DementiaBank. Our CNN system achieved the best classification accuracy of 63.6% for dementia, but reaching 70% for depressive disorders on the test set from Distress Analysis Interview Corpus.

These methods offer a promising classification accuracy ranging from 63% to 70%, applicable in an innovative speech-based screening system.

Various social problems, financial difficulties and academic factors contribute to the fact that more and more students around the world experience mental health problems (Chen et al., 2013; Gotlib et al., 2019). On the other hand, all the sides of students’ lives – from education to family relationships – are mediated by information communication technologies, that may have broad and ambiguous influence on students mental health. What is undoubtedly that youth mental health can no longer be considered without touching on the digitalization, including in education.

The current study aims to point up positive and negative examples of intersection of education digitalization and mental health of modern youth.

Theoretical analysis of research publications and conceptualization of practical applications in education mediated by digital technologies.

A striking example of the negative impact of total digitalization of education was the sharp deterioration in mental health in the context of the transition to fully distant learning in conditions of the spread of coronavirus infection. Positive education as teaching form for both traditional skills and positive functioning and happiness provides a broad opportunities to combine the concepts of positive psychology with cutting-edge high-tech education approaches.

Digitalization of modern education can be accompanied by both mental health risks and new opportunities. Mental health support can be based on finding information about good functioning, learning and participating in community activities that are provided through websites and mobile applications. The reported study was funded by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, project number 18-29-22049.

The characteristics of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder involve deficits in social communication and repetitive patterns of behavior and that there is a growing interest in the use of new technologies for neurorehabilitation.

This research aimed to verify the possibility of using Virtual reality for the treatment of Autism.

Scientific publications were selected from the PUBMED, ScieLO, LILACS and Google Scholar databases, written in Portuguese and English, with free access, between 2014 and 2019.

A total of 19 publications were identified. Concerning their design, 26,3% of them were experimental, 21,1% qualitative, 21,1% one-group pretest-posttest, 15,8% quasi-experimental, 10,5% descriptive and 5,2% of them were exploratory research studies. The studies focus on anxiety and phobias reduction, as well as teaching strategies to deal with stessful events. Eleven of the studies focused on the enhancement of independende and sef-confidence of the subjects. In five ot the studies the virtual reality was used with other technologies. In two of them the EEG was used along with virtual reality for detecting the cerebral region in activity during action.

Virtual reality was defended in most of the studies because it can provide a safe environment and offering high control of variables. Although the results indicate the use of virtual reality for the reduction of anxiety and the promotion of self-confidence and independence which aims the social deficits in autism, more research is needed to investigate the use or impact of VR on repetitive behavior.

Professional burnout syndrome (PBS) is currently considered from the perspective of value-oriented sense –of underlying psychological factors contributing to PBS development promotes the relevance of this study.

The study population included 81 medical professionals from out-patient polyclinic healthcare institution, among which 47(58%) healthcare professionals showed symptoms of burnout (mean age – 38,5±11,4 years old).

The correlation analysis revealed certain interdependencies between the professional burnout symptoms and personal qualities of subjects. Thus, the higher burnout level correlated with increased emotional burnout (r=0,871; p=0,016), reduced professional satisfaction (r=0,624; p=0,031), poorer health and adaptation (r=0,872; p=0,023), increased state anxiety (r=0,551; p=0,000), increased alexithymia scores (r=0,823; p=0,017); reduced empathy scores as emotional response to others’ emotional experience (r=0,466; p=0,000) and reduced willingness to involve into other people’s issues (r=0,564; p=0,032). No statistically significant correlations between TAS total alexithymia score and empathy score were demonstrated.

The healthcare professionals employed at the out-patient polyclinic units belong to the at-risk population group of professional burnout syndrome development. The individuals with higher burnout levels show typical specific correlations of empathy forms: in particular, decreased ability to differentiate one’s feelings from feelings of others, increased emotional sensitivity and reduced willingness to involve into other people’s issues are usually observed.

The term Orthorexia derives from the Greek “ortho – correct” and “orexis – appetite”; Orthorexia Nervosa is a pathological fixation with healthy eating that, starting with the idea to obtain a maximum health with a proper diet, leads to malnourishment and other medical sequelae, loss of relationships, loss of self-esteem, poor quality of life in general. Orthorexia, despite receiving broad empirical evidence, is not currently included in any psychiatric diagnostic manual.

The main aim of this study is to investigate its presence in a sample of patients already diagnosed with a canonical eating disorder and also to understand eventual overlaps with other clinical disorders in order to optimize treatment and follow up.

The ORTO-15 questionnaire, developed by an Italian team of researchers in 2005, was used to achieve the above aims: it is a tool comprehensive of 15 questions that assesses eating habits perceived as healthy. Really interesting and fascinating is to comprehend if people with a diagnosis of eating disorder present orthorectic behaviour and how this emerging reality fits in the Irish society with its peculiarities and uniqueness.

The Point Prevalence obtained is 17.9%. The expected rates of Orthorexia Nervosa in the general population are between 6.9% and 57.6%, with a peak of 81.8% in specific populations, fact that places our examined sample in the lower side of the prevalence previously considered in other studies.

It is significant the absence of correlation found between OCD and ON and that ON is more linked to Bulimia Nervosa rather than Anorexia Nervosa.

Binge-eating disorder (BED) is a difficult-to-manage clinical entity, that may associate both organic (e.g., obesity, metabolic syndrome) and psychiatric (e.g., anxiety, mood, or substance use disorders) co-morbidity. Psychotherapeutic and pharmacological approaches are usually combined in order to reach the best outcome for these patients, but the disorder seems to have prolonged evolution even under appropriate therapeutic managment.

To evaluate the most evidence-based therapies focused on BED.

A literature review was conducted through main electronic databases, and papers published between January 2000 and August 2020 were included in the analysis.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is supported by multiple trials, and it led to decreased number of binge episodes and increased rates of remission. Behavioral activation may improve certain symptoms of BED (depressive mood, anxiety), but not the binge episodes frequency. Interpersonal group therapy (IPT) may be helpful for BED patients with an external locus of control and significant interpersonal dificulties. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) has been applied in BED patients, but the results have been inconclusive. Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate is the only FDA approved drug for this indication, as dasotraline was rejected by FDA and its research discontinued by the manufacturer. Fluoxetine, sertraline, escitalopram, duloxetine, bupropion, atomoxetine, reboxetine, armodafinil, disulfiram, baclofen, zonisamide, lamotrigine, topiramate, samidorphan, liraglutid, and orlistat need more trials in order to validate their efficacy, especially on long term.

There is only one drug currently FDA approved for this indication, lisdexamfetamine, and a number of psychotherapies, with CBT and IPT being the most supported by evidence.

Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is an eating disorder characterized by low body weight, fear of gaining weight and distorted perception of body. Patients have rigidity, repetition of thoughts, alterations in decision-making skills and poor ability to provide new solutions. Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is a new eating disorder characterized by the absence of distress about body shape or fear of weight gain. Studies on neurocognitive aspects are few and no effective treatments are known.

The aim of our study was to further investigate the executive functions’ domains in AN and ARFID children and adolescents, to provide possible distinct neurocognitive traits in these patients.

AN or ARFID patients (15 + 15; range 6-18 years), were assessed by neuropsychological tools, such as: Wechsler Intelligence Scale to measure I.Q. profile, NEPSY-II to explore attention and executive functions, Tower of London test to detect planning and problem solving abilities, the Bells Test to evaluate visual selective and focused attention, the Wisconsing Card Sorting Test (WCST) for assessment of flexibility and directing behaviors by achieving a goal and the Rey-Osterrieth complex figure test (ROCF) to assess visual-spatial abilities.

Patients with ARFID presented impairments in several executive functions domains, with difficulties in the impulse inhibition, in the sustained attention and in visual-spatial skills. Finally, in their anamnesis a higher comorbidity with neurodevelopmental disorders such as specific learning disorder has been underlined.

The identification of specific deficit in neuropsychological profile of ARFID patients could be a rehabilitation target, together with standardized treatment.

The intestinal microbiota has been indicated to have a role in the pathophysiology of AN.

Aim of this study was to analyze fecal microbiome profiles of AN women before and after weight restoration and to combine them with fecal metabolomic profiles according to a multi-omics approach.

The gut microbiome and fecal metabolites were characterized in 21 underweight AN women and after weight restoration and compared with those of 20 healthy women. Microbiome data were correlated with the relevant fecal metabolites.

AN subjects showed a decreased intra-individual bacterial richness, an increased Bacteroidetes-to-Firmicutes abundance ratio and significant changes in the relative abundances of several bacteria at different order levels in both the underweight and weight-restored condition compared to healthy women. The untargeted metabolomic procedure allowed the characterization of 224 metabolites involved in energy, lipid and amino acid metabolism. A genetic algorithm identified 49 relevant metabolites. The relationships among these fecal metabolites and bacteria genera showed structures of different complexity in the 3 groups. In particular, a quarter of those relationships showed a divergent direction in the acute phase of AN than in the weight-restored phase or normal controls. Finally, in acute AN 70% of those correlations showed a negative sign suggesting a prevalent metabolites consummation by gut microbiome.

Our results provide a picture of the connections between gut bacteria and fecal metabolites in both the acute phase of AN and after short-term weight restoration. Further studies should aim to investigate the significance of gut microbiome perturbations in development and treatment of AN.

Anorexia is a disorder associated with severe disturbances in eating behaviors and related thoughts and emotions (distorted weight perception, body dissatisfaction). Multidimensional integrative treatment approaches are needed to act both on intrapersonal (e.g. nutritional and psychological) and interpersonal (e.g. behavioral and affective) processes.

Aim of this pilot project was to develop a 3-months horse-assisted intervention based on Equestrian Vaulting (EV) and tests its suitability and acceptability in patients with anorexia nervosa. Preliminary observations were carried out to assess the effectiveness of this program on body image, interpersonal relationships and communication and in managing anxiety.

Seven patients in charge of public service specialized in eating disorder participated in the study. EV activities were performed in an Equestrian Centre included horse grooming, gym exercises and horseback sessions.Clinical and psychological tests (SF 36, IPAQ, EDI3, STAI, SCL90) were administered at baseline and at the end of the program.

Increases in body fat and decreases in lean muscle mass were observed. These were accompained by an improvement in participants’ anxiety and relational skills and in the specific disease related symptoms.

Results indicate the potential of EV to help patients with eating disorder regaining awareness of themselves and their body, a critical element for their future reintegration in the contexts of everyday life and society. Although this is a pilot, the protocol developed represents an initial step to promote the application of EV in persons with eating disorders, informing feasibility in the design of larger controlled studies and suggesting critical variables to be targeted.

The aim of the present study was to investigate emotional regulation and attachment in adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN).

Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is an eating disorder (ED) characterized by self-starvation driving by weight, shape, and eating concerns and extreme dread of food, eating, and normal body weight. Dysfunctional emotional processing and regulation play an important role in the development and maintenance of eating disorders (EDs). Difficulties with emotional awareness and regulation in EDs are hypothesized to have their origins in childhood attachment.

The study population (N=20) consists of two research groups of patients with AN (group A) and general population controls (group B), matched for gender and age. The age of patients was 12-18 years. All adolescents were female. This study examined the attachment states of mind, assessed by the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), and emotion regulation difficulties, measured by the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS).

Group A reported significantly higher attachment insecurity (82% vs 50%) than group B. Group A show higher DERS total (nonacceptance, goals, and impulsivity scores) than group B.

Study results show a crucial role of attachment insecurity and emotional dysregulation in the development and maintenance of AN. Developing interventions to improve emotional management skills in the treatment of patients with AN can be an important component in improving treatment outcomes.

Previous research from our group showed that, after a single yoga class, Interoceptive Accuracy (IAc), tested through the Heartbeat Counting Task, improved in a group of Healthy Controls (HC), but not in a group of patients with Anorexia Nervosa (AN).

To evaluate three levels of interoception (accuracy, confidence (IC) and awareness (IAw)) before and after eight sessions of Yoga in a sample of patients with Eating Disorders (ED: AN, Bulimia Nervosa (BN) and Binge Eating Disorder (BED)).

15 patients with ED were included. Before the first yoga session (T0) and 72 hours after the last session (T1), participants underwent: (i) the Heartbeat Counting Task for the evaluation of IAc, IC and IAw; (ii) a psychometric assessment evaluating depression, anxiety, body awareness, alexithymia, self-objectification and eating disorders symptomatology.

At T1, ED patients’ IAc appeared higher than at T0, but not IC and IAw. A trend towards significance (p = 0.055) emerged for the interaction effect between IAc and diagnosis, with BED patients having a higher increase of IAc at T1 than AN and BN patients. Significant correlations between IAc and Alexithymia, Anxiety and Depression emerged at T0, but were not maintained at T1.

After a program of eight Yoga sessions, IAc in ED patients (but not IC and IAw) increases, especially in BED patients. Moreover, the improvement of IAc following the yoga course seems to be unrelated to the course of depressive, anxious and alexithymic symptoms of ED patients.

Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is a severe mental illness characterized by weight reducing strategies such as food restriction, purging behaviours and excessive physical exercise. The persistence of physical exercise despite underweight and its maintaining factors are poorly understood.

The aim of this study is to explore the attitudes towards physical exercise and its effects on mood, body image perception and cognitive functioning in patients with AN, and to assess if these effects are associated with trait, or state.

Eighty-eight patients with AN, 30 unaffected relatives and 89 healthy controls were compared about their attitudes towards three aspects of physical exercise, namely the Exercise Dependence Scale (EDS), the Godin Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire (GLTEQ) and a standardized effort test. Evaluations of positive and negative affects, cognitive rigidity and body image distortion were repeated at baseline and after the effort test to assess for correlations between the exercise measures and exercise-induced modifications in the three groups.

Patients with AN showed higher scores on the EDS, the GLTEQ and used more effort in the standardized effort test (p<.05). These three aspects of physical exercise correlated with baseline negative emotions (p<.01). AN patients and unaffected relatives, but not controls, showed a marked emotional improvement after physical exercise (p<.01).

Excessive physical exercise seems a trait-associated feature of AN, driven by a state-related effect of physical exercise on emotional wellbeing. The mood-related drive for physical exercise has the characteristics of an endophenotype in the patients of the present sample.

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is characterized by repeatedly losing control over eating behavior and consuming large amounts of food within a short period of time. In later years, a growing body of evidence for effectiveness of internet-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (iCBT) as treatment for BED has emerged. Regarding the ability to complete a self-help program on the internet, internal self-regulation can be viewed as important.

To qualitatively explore patient motivations for seeking therapy for BED according to intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as well as patient reasons for seeking online therapy.

The research design of this study was qualitatively. The participants were 52 adults suffering from mild to moderate BED. Data consisted of written texts entered by the participants into the online therapy program. The texts addressed the participants’ goals for their treatment course and their motives for seeking online therapy. The texts were analyzed by the means of systematic text condensation.

Pertaining patient motivations for seeking therapy for BED, five main motivations that reached a saturated level in the sample were discovered: wish for control; avoidance of guilt/shame; desire for tools/insights; weight loss; and psychological stress. Participants ranged from one motivational factor to four, no participant had all the motivational factors. Regarding patient reasons for seeking online therapy, the following themes including sub themes were found: online treatment, treatment at home, and flexible treatment.

The results indicate that online therapy for BED may be able to breach some of the barriers there are towards treatment seeking.

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are often accompanied by aggressive manifestations that undergo typical dynamics at different stages of the disease. The presence of aggressive phenomena in eating disorders can cause severe maladaptation of patients, cause difficulties in diagnosis, establishing compliance, and prevent the normalization of family relations.

To study the varieties of aggressive manifestations and their changes in the treatment of anorexia nervosa and bulimia.

Psychopathological, anamnestic, psychological.

The most pronounced aggressive symptoms in typical anorexia nervosa are verbal and physical aggression against relatives and close people; feeding younger siblings, parents; threats and suppression of the opinion of relatives in relation to patients. The above aggressive statements and actions occur at the stage of correction and in the initial period of the stage of exhaustion. With deep exhaustion (pronounced cachexia) and in the process of food rehabilitation, aggressive behavior is significantly reduced. In the future, there is criticism of their own aggressive symptoms. In bulimia nervosa, only verbal aggression toward loved ones is noted, especially when they interfere with purifying behavior and massive compulsive overeating. The degree of aggression in bulimia nervosa is significantly less.

Aggressive manifestations in eating disorders depend on the stage of the disease, the degree of exhaustion and undergo reverse development in the course of therapy. Aggressive phenomena in eating disorders have a significant impact on the clinic, dynamics, outcomes of diseases and the effectiveness of treatment tactics.

No significant relationships.

Literature highlights that interpersonal sensitivity represents an important development and maintaining factor for Eating Disorder (ED). Mentalizing and empathy are two psychological constructs that play a crucial role in social functioning. However, the role of mentalizing and empathy in the socio-emotional processing deficits of ED patients has been under investigated.

We aimed to assess the complex interactions between the sub-components of mentalizing and empathy and ED symptoms through a network analysis approach.

Seventy-seven women with EDs were included in our study. Eating disorder and affective symptomatology were investigated with self-report questionnaires. All patients underwent two computerized tasks: Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition (MASC), assessing emotional and non-emotional mental state inferences; Empathic Accuracy Task-Revised (EAT-R), measuring accuracy in identifying and sharing others’ emotions. A partial correlation network and bridge function analyses were computed.

In the partial correlation network inference of cognitive mental states and shape concern were the nodes with the highest strength centrality. Inference of emotional mental states was the node with the highest bridge strength in the cluster of social cognition functions. Empathic and mentalizing abilities were directly connected with each other and with ED symptoms.

This is the first network analysis study which integrates self-reported symptoms and objective socio-cognitive performance in people with Eds. Our results provide evidence of the complex interactions between mentalizing, empathy and psychopathological symptoms in people with EDs. Therefore, confirm that the ability to infer others’ mental state may represent a useful target for clinical intervention in EDs.

Anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) occur predominantly females, take one of the first places in the risk of fatal outcome among mental disorders, have a tendency to chronicity, disability with social disadaptation, high suicidal risk. The psychopathological basis of these diseases is dysmorphophobia, characterized intrusive, overvalued or delusional ideas of physical disability. The significant role of dysmorphophobia determines the urgency of the detailed study using psychometric techniques.

Assess the degree of satisfaction/dissatisfaction with one’s body and its separate parts in patients with AN and BN.

130 female patients with AN and BN at the age of 13-44 years (the average age is 18). The disease duration from 6 months to 24 years. The psychometric method using the validated Questionnaire image of one’s own body (QIOB) and the Scale of satisfaction with one’s body (SSOB).

According to QIOB 84,62% in the category expressed dissatisfaction with their appearance, 15,38% in moderate category. According to SSOB, 32,31% of the patients is not satisfied with characteristics that belong to head, 45,38% is not satisfied with characteristics that belong to torso, 56,92% is not satisfied with characteristics that belong to the lower part of body. The number of dissatisfied with all of these body parts equals 38% which indicates the presence of polydismorfofobia.

High rates of dissatisfaction with one’s appearance, which are consistent with the severe somatic state of patients, affect the dynamics and outcome of the disease. Publication was prepared with support of the “RUDN University Program 5-100”.

Currently, there are no ideal medications for treating anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN). This is due to the variety of symptoms from the mental and somatic spheres.

Describe the modern methods of psychopharmacotherapy AN and BN.

Data from available publications on the topic of psychopharmacotherapy AN and BN, and long-term practical experience of research staff the Department of psychiatry and medical psychology RUDN University, Moscow.

Therapy includes antidepressants (AD) - serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), antipsychotics and tranquilizers. AD groups of SSRIs reduce most of the symptoms AN and BN - depressive disorders, anxiety, obsessive and compulsive symptoms, episodes of overeating and purifying behavior, suicidal thoughts, and reduce the frequency of relapses. With severe and persistent dysmorphophobia, a high degree of impulsivity, and psychopathic behavior second-generation antipsychotics Quetiapine, Olanzapine, Risperidone and Aripiprazole are used. Benzodiazepine tranquilizers (Lorazepam) are used in small doses and as additional therapy. Data from the European national guidelines for the treatment of AN and BN very different, and the world Federation of societies for biological psychiatry (WFSBP) does not provide specific recommendations at all. There are many reasons for disagreement and lack of specificity regarding drug selection, including the lack of an equally solid evidence base, that reflects the modern state of research on the psychopharmacological treatment of eating disorders.

In General, therapy AN and BN should be comprehensive - psychopharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, diet therapy, social rehabilitation. Treatment should be carried out both in the hospital and on outpatient basis and should be decided individually.

Eating disorders are among the most common mental health problems. The prevalence of diseases in this circle is 1-2% of the population; in adolescents - 1%. There is a significant “rejuvenation” of eating disorders with the appearance anorexia nervosa cases in preschool and primary school age. The prevalence of such disorders among adolescents is a significant reason for detailed and comprehensive study of the issue. Many factors lead to development of eating disorders: genetic predisposition, family background, socio-cultural factors, life experience. We suggested that due to many mutually overlapping factors in the syndrome of anorexia nervosa, there may also be distortions of personality characteristics, sometimes reaching the level of personality disorders.

assessment of personality feachers 34 patients with leading diagnosis of F-50.0 (ICD-10) were examined in FSBSI MHRC (inpatient treatment/outpatient observation). All adolescents received drug therapy.

The study was carried out using modern pathopsychological methods with the inclusion of research questionnaires aimed at identifying personal pathology (LoPF 12-18, AIDA).

During the research, the following personality traits were revealed: perfectionism, the desire to correspond to a certain ideal image of oneself, instability of Ego, unstable identity violations; reduced ability to form a picture of the future and themselves in the future; also showed a tendency to abuse psychoactive substances.

Thus, the general for all patients with diagnosed disorder was persistent refusal to eat (up to dystrophy), distortion of Ego, characteristic of personality disorders were also observed. Further studies are required to obtain a more detailed picture and clarify the prognostic outcome.
