The article concerns the existence and uniqueness of quantisations of cluster algebras. We prove that cluster algebras with an initial exchange matrix of full rank admit a quantisation in the sense of Berenstein-Zelevinsky and give an explicit generating set to construct all quantisations.

In 2014, the first two authors proved an extension to modules of a theorem of Camillo and Yu that an exchange ring has stable range 1 if and only if every regular element is unit-regular. Here, we give a Morita context version of a stronger theorem. The definition of regular elements in a module goes back to Zelmanowitz in 1972, but the notion of a unit-regular element in a module is new. In this paper, we study unit-regular elements and give several characterizations of them in terms of “stable” elements and “lifting” elements. Along the way, we give natural extensions to the module case of many results about unit-regular rings. The paper concludes with a discussion of when the endomorphism ring of a unit-regular module is a unit-regular ring.

In this paper, we derive two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants for bounded Vilenkin systems, we also present some applications of importance, e.g., we obtain a characterization for the boundedness of a subsequence of partial sums with respect to Vilenkin–Fourier series of H1 martingales in terms of n's variation. The conditions given in this paper are in a sense necessary and sufficient.

It is well known that along any stable manifold the dynamics travels with an exponential rate. Moreover, this rate is close to the slowest exponential rate along the stable direction of the linearization, provided that the nonlinear part is sufficiently small. In this note, we show that whenever there is also a fastest finite exponential rate along the stable direction of the linearization, similarly we can establish a lower bound for the speed of the nonlinear dynamics along the stable manifold. We consider both cases of discrete and continuous time, as well as a nonuniform exponential behaviour.

We show that an action of a group on a set X is locally finite if and only if X is not equidecomposable with a proper subset of itself. As a consequence, a group is locally finite if and only if its uniform Roe algebra is finite.

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate some natural problems regarding the order structure of representable functionals on *-algebras. We describe the extreme points of order intervals, and give a non-trivial sufficient condition to decide whether or not the infimum of two representable functionals exists. To this aim, we offer a suitable approach to the Lebesgue decomposition theory, which is in complete analogy with the one developed by Ando in the context of positive operators. This tight analogy allows to invoke Ando's results to characterize uniqueness of the decomposition, and solve the infimum problem over certain operator algebras.

In this paper, we study spectral properties and local spectral properties of ∞-complex symmetric operators T. In particular, we prove that if T is an ∞-complex symmetric operator, then T has the decomposition property (δ) if and only if T is decomposable. Moreover, we show that if T and S are ∞-complex symmetric operators, then so is T ⊗ S.

Eisenstein classes of Siegel varieties are motivic cohomology classes defined as pull-backs by torsion sections of the polylogarithm prosheaf on the universal abelian scheme. By reduction to the Hilbert–Blumenthal case, we prove that the Betti realization of these classes on Siegel varieties of arbitrary genus have non-trivial residue on zero-dimensional strata of the Baily–Borel–Satake compactification. A direct corollary is the non-vanishing of a higher regulator map.

In this paper, we study the bounded approximation property for the weighted space $\mathcal{HV}$(U) of holomorphic mappings defined on a balanced open subset U of a Banach space E and its predual $\mathcal{GV}$(U), where $\mathcal{V}$ is a countable family of weights. After obtaining an $\mathcal{S}$-absolute decomposition for the space $\mathcal{GV}$(U), we show that E has the bounded approximation property if and only if $\mathcal{GV}$(U) has. In case $\mathcal{V}$ consists of a single weight v, an analogous characterization for the metric approximation property for a Banach space E has been obtained in terms of the metric approximation property for the space $\mathcal{G}_v$(U).

A multicurve${\mathcal{C}}$ in a closed orientable surface Sg of genus g is defined to be a finite collection of disjoint non-isotopic essential simple closed curves. A left-handed Dehn twist$t_{\mathcal{C}}$about${\mathcal{C}}$ is the product of left-handed Dehn twists about the individual curves in ${\mathcal{C}}$. In this paper, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a root of $t_{\mathcal{C}}$ in the mapping class group Mod(Sg). Using these conditions, we obtain combinatorial data that correspond to roots, and use it to determine upper bounds on the degree of a root. As an application of our theory, we classify all such roots up to conjugacy in Mod(S4). Finally, we establish that no such root can lie in the level m congruence subgroup of Mod(Sg), for m ≥ 3.

Fix an arbitrary finite group A of order a, and let X(n, q) denote the set of homomorphisms from A to the finite general linear group GLn(q). The size of X(n, q) is a polynomial in q. In this note, it is shown that generically this polynomial has degree n2(1 – a−1) − εr and leading coefficient mr, where εr and mr are constants depending only on r := n mod a. We also present an algorithm for explicitly determining these constants.

Let A and B be arbitrary C*-algebras, we prove that the existence of a Hilbert A–B-bimodule of finite index ensures that the WEP, QWEP, and LLP along with other finite-dimensional approximation properties such as CBAP and (S)OAP are shared by A and B. For this, we first study the stability of the WEP, QWEP, and LLP under Morita equivalence of C*-algebras. We present examples of Hilbert A–B-bimodules, which are not of finite index, while such properties are shared between A and B. To this end, we study twisted crossed products by amenable discrete groups.

We solve a problem posed by Cardinali and Sastry (Elliptic ovoids and their rosettes in a classical generalized quadrangle of even order. Proc. Indian Acad. Sci. Math. Sci.126 (2016), 591–612) about factorization of 2-covers of finite classical generalized quadrangles (GQs). To that end, we develop a general theory of cover factorization for GQs, and in particular, we study the isomorphism problem for such covers and associated geometries. As a byproduct, we obtain new results about semi-partial geometries coming from θ-covers, and consider related problems.

Asymptotic triangulations can be viewed as limits of triangulations under the action of the mapping class group. In the case of the annulus, such triangulations have been introduced in K. Baur and G. Dupont (Compactifying exchange graphs: Annuli and tubes, Ann. Comb.3(18) (2014), 797–839). We construct an alternative method of obtaining these asymptotic triangulations using Coxeter transformations. This provides us with an algebraic and combinatorial framework for studying these limits via the associated quivers.

In this paper, we provide an explicit upper bound for the Loxton–Kedlaya rank of the maximal abelian extension of ℚ.

We prove that a quotient singularity ℂn/G by a finite subgroup G ⊂ SLn(ℂ) has a crepant resolution only if G is generated by junior elements. This is a generalization of the result of Verbitsky (Asian J. Math.4(3) (2000), 553–563). We also give a procedure to compute the Cox ring of a minimal model of a given ℂn/G explicitly from information of G. As an application, we investigate the smoothness of minimal models of some quotient singularities. Together with work of Bellamy and Schedler, this completes the classification of symplectically imprimitive quotient singularities that admit projective symplectic resolutions.

We use elementary skein theory to prove a version of a result of Stylianakis (Stylianakis, The normal closure of a power of a half-twist has infinite index in the mapping class group of a punctured sphere, arXiv:1511.02912) who showed that under mild restrictions on m and n, the normal closure of the mth power of a half-twist has infinite index in the mapping class group of a sphere with 2n punctures.

Let R be a graded ring. We introduce the concepts of Ding gr-injective and Ding gr-projective R-modules, which are the graded analogues of Ding injective and Ding projective modules. Several characterizations and properties of Ding gr-injective and Ding gr-projective modules are obtained. In addition, we investigate the relationships among Gorenstein gr-flat, Ding gr-injective and Ding gr-projective modules.

For a group G, a weak Cayley table isomorphism is a bijection f : G → G such that f(g1g2) is conjugate to f(g1)f(g2) for all g1, g2 ∈ G. The set of all weak Cayley table isomorphisms forms a group (G) that is the group of symmetries of the weak Cayley table of G. We determine (G) for each of the 17 wallpaper groups G, and for some other crystallographic groups.
