  • Automatic Continuity of Homomorphisms in Non-associative Banach Algebras

  • We introduce the concept of a rare element in a non-associative normed algebra and show that the existence of such an element is the only obstruction to continuity of a surjective homomorphism from a non-associative Banach algebra to a unital normed algebra with simple completion. Unital associative algebras do not admit any rare elements, and hence automatic continuity holds.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to prove, that the topology of any (non-complete) algebra norm on a JB* -algebra is stronger than the topology of the usual norm. The proof of this theorem consists of an adaptation of the recent Rodriguez proof [8] that every homomorphism from a complex normed (associative) Q-algebra onto a B*-algebra is continuous.

  • In the present article we generalize Theorem 2.3 of [6] in the case of JV algebras without a unit element and we obtain as a consequence that the multiplicativity of the involution ((xy)* = y*x*) in the definition of a JH*-algebra is redundant (see [3]). We end this paper with a theorem on unital JH*-algebra which is a nonassociative extension of the main result in [4].
