By using fixed point argument, we give a proof for the existence of singular rotationally symmetric steady and expanding gradient Ricci solitons in higher dimensions with metric $g=\frac {da^2}{h(a^2)}+a^2g_{S^n}$ for some function h where $g_{S^n}$ is the standard metric on the unit sphere $S^n$ in $\mathbb {R}^n$ for any $n\ge 2$. More precisely, for any $\lambda \ge 0$ and $c_0>0$, we prove that there exist infinitely many solutions ${h\in C^2((0,\infty );\mathbb {R}^+)}$ for the equation $2r^2h(r)h_{rr}(r)=(n-1)h(r)(h(r)-1)+rh_r(r)(rh_r(r)-\lambda r-(n-1))$, $h(r)>0$, in $(0,\infty )$ satisfying $\underset {\substack {r\to 0}}{\lim }\,r^{\sqrt {n}-1}h(r)=c_0$ and prove the higher-order asymptotic behavior of the global singular solutions near the origin. We also find conditions for the existence of unique global singular solution of such equation in terms of its asymptotic behavior near the origin.
In this work, we obtain a local maximum principle along the Ricci flow
$g(t)$
under the condition that
$\mathrm {Ric}(g(t))\le {\alpha } t^{-1}$
for
$t>0$
for some constant
${\alpha }>0$
. As an application, we will prove that under this condition, various kinds of curvatures will still be nonnegative for
$t>0$
, provided they are non-negative initially. These extend the corresponding known results for Ricci flows on compact manifolds or on complete noncompact manifolds with bounded curvature. By combining the above maximum principle with the Dirichlet heat kernel estimates, we also give a more direct proof of Hochard’s [15] localized version of a maximum principle by Bamler et al. [1] on the lower bound of different kinds of curvatures along the Ricci flows for
$t>0$
.
We derive estimates relating the values of a solution at any two points to the distance between the points for quasilinear parabolic equations on compact Riemannian manifolds under Ricci flow.
This paper considers the Ricci flow coupled with the harmonic map flow between two manifolds. We derive estimates for the fundamental solution of the corresponding conjugate heat equation and we prove an analogue of Perelman's differential Harnack inequality. As an application, we find a connection between the entropy functional and the best constant in the Sobolev embedding theorem in ℝn.
We develop new algorithms for approximating extremal toric Kähler metrics. We focus on an extremal metric on , which is conformal to an Einstein metric (the Chen–LeBrun–Weber metric). We compare our approximation to one given by Bunch and Donaldson and compute various geometric quantities. In particular, we demonstrate a small eigenvalue of the scalar Laplacian of the Einstein metric that gives numerical evidence that the Einstein metric is conformally unstable under Ricci flow.
In this paper, we discuss monotonicity formulae of various entropy functionals under various rescaled versions of Ricci flow. As an application, we prove that the lowest eigenvalue of a family of geometric operators $-4\Delta \,+\,kR$ is monotonic along the normalized Ricci flow for all $k\,\ge \,1$ provided the initial manifold has nonpositive total scalar curvature.
