The bipartite independence number of a graph $G$, denoted as $\tilde \alpha (G)$, is the minimal number $k$ such that there exist positive integers $a$ and $b$ with $a+b=k+1$ with the property that for any two disjoint sets $A,B\subseteq V(G)$ with $|A|=a$ and $|B|=b$, there is an edge between $A$ and $B$. McDiarmid and Yolov showed that if $\delta (G)\geq \tilde \alpha (G)$ then $G$ is Hamiltonian, extending the famous theorem of Dirac which states that if $\delta (G)\geq |G|/2$ then $G$ is Hamiltonian. In 1973, Bondy showed that, unless $G$ is a complete bipartite graph, Dirac’s Hamiltonicity condition also implies pancyclicity, i.e., existence of cycles of all the lengths from $3$ up to $n$. In this paper, we show that $\delta (G)\geq \tilde \alpha (G)$ implies that $G$ is pancyclic or that $G=K_{\frac{n}{2},\frac{n}{2}}$, thus extending the result of McDiarmid and Yolov, and generalizing the classic theorem of Bondy.

An edge-coloured graph $G$ is called properly connected if any two vertices are connected by a properly coloured path. The proper connection number, $pc(G)$, of a graph $G$, is the smallest number of colours that are needed to colour $G$ such that it is properly connected. Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}(n)$ denote the minimum value such that $pc(G)=2$ for any 2-connected incomplete graph $G$ of order $n$ with minimum degree at least $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}(n)$. Brause et al. [‘Minimum degree conditions for the proper connection number of graphs’, Graphs Combin.33 (2017), 833–843] showed that $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}(n)>n/42$. In this note, we show that $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}(n)>n/36$.

Let G be a finite connected graph of order n, minimum degree δ and diameter d. The degree distance D′(G) of G is defined as ∑ {u,v}⊆V (G)(deg u+deg v) d(u,v), where deg w is the degree of vertex w and d(u,v) denotes the distance between u and v. In this paper, we find an asymptotically sharp upper bound on the degree distance in terms of order, minimum degree and diameter. In particular, we prove that

\[ D^\prime (G)\le \frac {1}{4}\,dn\biggl (n-\frac {d}{3}(\delta +1)\biggr )^2+O(n^3). \]

Let G be a graph of order n, and let a and b be two integers with 1≤a≤b. Let h:E(G)→[0,1] be a function. If a≤∑ e∋xh(e)≤b holds for any x∈V (G), then we call G[Fh] a fractional [a,b] -factor of G with indicator function h, where Fh ={e∈E(G):h(e)>0}. A graph G is fractional independent-set-deletable [a,b] -factor-critical (in short, fractional ID-[a,b] -factor-critical) if G−I has a fractional [a,b] -factor for every independent set I of G. In this paper, it is proved that if n≥((a+2b)(a+b−2)+1 )/b and δ(G)≥((a+b)n )/(a+2b ) , then G is fractional ID-[a,b] -factor-critical. This result is best possible in some sense, and it is an extension of Chang, Liu and Zhu’s previous result.

Let G be a graph of order n, and let k≥1 be an integer. Let h:E(G)→[0,1] be a function. If ∑ e∋xh(e)=k holds for any x∈V (G), then we call G[Fh] a fractional k-factor of G with indicator function h where Fh ={e∈E(G):h(e)>0}. A graph G is called a fractional (k,m) -deleted graph if for every e∈E(H) , there exists a fractional k-factor G[Fh ] of G with indicator function h such that h(e)=0 , where H is any subgraph of G with m edges. The minimum degree of a vertex in G is denoted by δ(G) . For X⊆V (G), NG(X)=⋃ x∈XNG(x) . The binding number of G is defined by In this paper, it is proved that if then G is a fractional (k,m) -deleted graph. Furthermore, it is shown that this result is best possible in some sense.

Let G be a graph of order n. Let a, b and k be nonnegative integers such that 1≤a≤b. A graph G is called an (a,b,k)-critical graph if after deleting any k vertices of G the remaining graph of G has an [a,b]-factor. We provide a sufficient condition for a graph to be (a,b,k)-critical that extends a well-known sufficient condition for the existence of a k-factor.
