Systematic literature reviews, bibliometrics and meta-analyses on management topics
The Journal of Management & Organization is commemorating its 30th birthday in 2025 by publishing a special issue dedicated to systematic literature reviews, bibliometrics, and meta-analyses concerning management topics. Over the past 30 years, significant transformations have occurred in management practices, particularly due to the rise of digitalisation and evolving global social trends. This presents an opportunity to reflect on the field of management studies by examining what has been published and what remains to be explored. Analysing existing research is crucial for identifying future research avenues and for the advancement of new management theories and practices. To achieve this, we invite management reviews employing various methodological approaches across a spectrum of management topics. Systematic literature reviews are instrumental in evaluating a specific area of management to pinpoint key trends. This facilitates a thorough examination of the foundational body of knowledge, allowing for the extraction of cutting-edge insights. The objective of this special issue is to promote further advancements in particular management topics to achieve improved outcomes. We advocate for a methodological framework grounded in the literature while emphasising management theory and practice. Various types of systematic literature reviews may encompass themes, theories, methods, and narratives. We welcome submissions of systematic literature reviews, bibliometrics, and meta-analyses that not only assess current literature but also highlight future research directions. The emphasis should be on management subject areas, which may include:
Human resource and talent management | Technology and artificial intelligence management | Sport management | Management education | Service management | Indigenous management |
Arts management | Health management | Creativity and innovation management | Entrepreneurial management | Small business management | Tourism and hospitality management |
Leadership management | Organisational behaviour and management | International management | Geopolitical and crisis management | Supply chain, project and logistics management | Strategic management |
