Summary
What follows is a table of those sections of the Constitutions of Narbonne which have affinities with earlier Dominican constitutions. They are arranged according to the nature of the link—which varies from a verbal connection to an association of ideas—and the references given are (a) to Narb., (b) to the Dominican constitutions, by Distinction and section of the two recensions (for 1228, cf. A.L.K.G. 1, 165–227; for 1241, A.L.K.G. v, 530–64), (c) by date to the Dominican Chapters which passed individual constitutions (for these, cf. ‘Acta Capitulorum Generalium Ordinis Praedicatorum’, i, M.O.P.H.iii), (d) by page to a discussion in the text of this book; to these is sometimes added a note of whether the Franciscan or the Dominican is the debtor, and which of the two Dominican versions is closer to the Franciscan. Where there is a connection with the earlier Dominican recension (whether directly or through that of 1241), the Franciscan must normally be derived from the Dominican, since with very few exceptions the Franciscan constitutions are later than 1228; this point is not noted by each item which it affects in the following analysis.
