Founded in 1890 the Royal Economic Society is one of the oldest and most prestigious economic associations in the world. From its inception the Royal Economic Society has had a commitment to publishing scholarly editions of classic works in economics. The Collected Writings of John Maynard Keynes was undertaken in pursuit of this aim and to honour the economist who did most to advance the objectives of the Society during the first half century of its existence.
