Summary
Covers the form, development, and surviving examples of choir precincts, screens, and their accoutrements such as crucifixes, pulpits, and paintings. Analyzes the functions of screens, particularly in segregating laity from clergy and men from women. Examines several contemporary images of the Italian church interior, which give insights into these lost layouts.
