CPD Online is an e-learning resource offered by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The website contains a range of learning modules and podcasts that provide a flexible, interactive way of keeping up to date with progress in mental health. College members may use CPD Online for up to 25 CPD points in the UK. Access to the modules is through annual subscription, but we offer a series of free trial modules. Problem psychiatrists: Part 1 – introduction to dealing with poor performance
The GMC makes it clear that all doctors are expected to understand and deal with poor performance by their colleagues. Serious issues are relatively uncommon, perhaps only one or two cases a year in most average-sized mental health trusts or health boards. Developing and employing the necessary skills is therefore not particularly easy. This module introduces what doctors need to know about how to approach such problems. CPD Credits: 1
Complementary medicines for ASD and ADHD
Complementary alternative medicines (CAMs) are commonly used for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and interventions vary greatly in complexity, effectiveness and risks. The goal of this module is to equip psychiatrists to deal confidently and sensitively with the clinical queries of parents and carers about CAMs-based interventions. The module concerns CAMs for children, but some of the information is also applicable to adults. CPD Credits: 1.5
