1 This study is the work of two seniors of Dartmouth College, carried on under the direction of Professor Richardson of the political science department. The statistics used have been taken from analyses of the Brown Book, the house and senate files of bills introduced, and the house and senate journals. Some firsthand knowledge of the actual workings of the legislature was gained on a short visit to Concord; and the help and advice of Professor Richardson, who is a member of the house, has proved invaluable in carrying on the work.
