A new genus and species of Erythroneurini (Hemiptera: Cicadelloidea) causing severe damage to flamboyant trees (Delonix regia) in Mauritius and Reunion

Abstract

Cerneura delonixia gen. et sp. n. is described from specimens collected on flamboyant trees (Delonix regia) in Mauritius and Reunion, where it causes severe damage. Attention is drawn to other leafhoppers causing similar damage to other trees elsewhere in the tropics.
