L'infestation des forêts de sapin (Abies balsamea Mill.) de certaines régions de la province de Québec par l'Arpenteuse de la pruche, Lambdina fiscellaria fiscellaria (Guén.) (Lepidoptera – Geometridae), survient périodiquement. En effet, six épidémies de cet insecte ont été observées depuis les années 1920 et, dans la plupart des cas, des pertes importantes de bois furent rapportées.
