FOUR NEW SPECIES OF BDELYRUS (COLEOPTERA: SCARABAEIDAE: SCARABAEINAE) AND A REDESCRIPTION OF BDELYRUS LAGOPUS

Abstract

Four new species of the Neotropical scarabaeid genus Bdelyrus Harold are described: Bdelyrus asheisp.nov., Bdelyrus cochabambaesp.nov., Bdelyrus iquitosensissp.nov., and Bdelyrus ecuadoraesp.nov. This brings the total to 27 species of Bdelyrus. Bdelyrus lagopus Harold is redescribed and illustrated. A key to all known species of Bdelyrus is provided. Illustrations, a range map, and a revised phylogenetic tree are included. Inclusion of these new species in the revised phylogenetic analysis did not alter significantly the relationships among the 23 species included in the original analysis.

Résumé

On trouvera ici la description de quatre nouvelles espèces néotropicales de Bdelyrus Harold : Bdelyrus asheisp.nov., Bdelyrus cochabambaesp.nov., Bdelyrus iquitosensissp.nov. et Bdelyrus ecuadoraesp.nov. Ceci porte à 27 le nombre total d’espèces connues de Bdelyrus. Bdelyrus lagopus Harold est décrit et illustré de nouveau. Une clé d’identification permettra de reconnaître toutes les espèces. Des illustrations, une carte de répartition et un arbre phylogénétique révisé sont également présentés. L’inclusion des nouvelles espèces a peu modifié les relations entre les 23 espèces contenues dans l’analyse originale.
