Extract

For a number of years the fact has been known that colonies of a Coenonympha related to ampelos Edw. inhabit the Mono Basin of California, along the eastern base of the Sierra Nevada. Although the members of these colonies, which are alike, possess characteristics that distinguish them readily from ampelos or any other race of Coenonympha, this fact has somehow escaped the attention of entomologists.
