Scientific Names of Potato-Infesting Aphids1

Extract

Although the common aphids that infest Solanum tuberosum L. in North America and Europe appear to be the same, different scientific names are used for them on the two continents. This unsatisfactory situation is confusing to both entomologists and virologists and shouId be corrected. This paper presents the preferred scientific names. Only the most important synonyms are discussed.
