Addressing the “democratic malaise” that results from “a substantial decline in Canadians' confidence in their democratic practices and institutions,” (vii) the series “includes nine volumes examining specific areas of Canadian democratic life”; a tenth, synthetic volume “makes sense out of the different approaches and findings found in the rest of the series” (viii).
