page 89 note 2 We need not here consider the doubt left Prof. Jebb between συγκραθες and the conjecture συντακες. It rests entirely upon the assumption of syllabic correspondence with v. 654, ⋯χ⋯λυσ’ ⋯π⋯πονον ⋯μ⋯ραν The sense of συγκραθες (see Jebb) is unexceptionable, and the metre, as I think, also. The metrical objection to θηρσ is graver, but also may be neglected, as θηρσ is otherwise condemned.
