Abstract

For the first time a representative of the publishing trade was invited to speak at the opening of a General IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) Conference. The Secretary General of IPA, Mr J. A. KOUTCHOUMOW, addressed the IFLA assembly of 3,500 librarians in Barcelona 23 August 1993:
