Developing Research and Clinical Practice Using Health Records Data – a Spanish Perspective

This talk will focus on the ongoing development of a mental health section within the Andalusian Health System Medical Records Software (DAE). The system is a multidisciplinary mental health medical records system and has two levels of complexity. On the one hand, there are a variety of áreas to reach different care placements covering specific services' needs. On the other hand, there are also several different levels of care software packages to accommodate to particular recording needs for different types of mental health professionals: psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, social workers and occupational therapists. The mental health área is one of many within DAE software which also has a general common structure for all specialties both at the emergency and standrad levels of care. Examples of utitilty for both research and improvement of clinical standards will also be presented.
