Modern psychiatry is still not able to avoid the use of coercive measures in spite of that there is an effort to minimalize its use. We present data monitoring the use of coercive measures in a group of more than 2000 involuntary admitted mentally ill patients from 10 european countries. Data were gathered during EUNOMIA international project. Our presentation mainly focuses on reasons and predictors of application of mechanical and chemical restraints and their prevention. coercive measures, involuntary admission, predictors, reasons.
