While DSM-IV diagnostic criteria exclude autism for making autism diagnosis; there are some reports about their co-occurrence.
A clinical sample of children with pervasive developmental disorder was screened for ADHD according to DSM-IV criteria.
About 40% of them were with ADHD-combined type. The rates of other types of ADHD were lower than the rate of combined type.
There is a very high rate of ADHD in children and adolescents with autism.
