[The European Convention on Extradition, done at Paris on December13, 1957, entered into force on April 18, 1960. As of July 31,1978, the Convention was in force for the following countries: Austria,Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, the Federal Republic of Germany, Greece, Ireland,Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway,Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. The First Additional Protocol, done atStrasbourg on October 15, 1975, had not yet entered into force as ofJuly 31, 1978. Denmark and Portugal had signed; Sweden being the onlycountry to have ratified.
[The Second Additional Protocol will enter into force upon ratificationby at least three members of the Council of Europe who haveratified the Convention. As of July 7, 1978, Switzerland had signedthe Second Additional Protocol.]
