page 356 note * The relation between Mr. Finlaison's and Mr. Woolhouse's methods may be readily seen by a comparison of columns (5) and (10) of Table (A). It will be found that there is a close agreement between ages 20 and 70, and that from age70 to 84 Mr. Finlaison's graduated decrement is much lower, while after age 84 it is much higher, than Mr. Woolhouse's.
