page 488 note 2 Kṛṣyayogyā = Kṛṣi + ayogyā = “ unfit to be cultivated ” : it is a pity that neither Dr. Bühler nor Dr. Fleet could detect the sandhi in in the text of the Vaijayantī. Dr. Oppert, however, in the Vocabulary appended to his Edition of the Vaijayantī (Madras, 1893) rightly translates as “ field unfit for cultivation ”.
