The first reference to the Problem Bureau in The Mathematical Gazette was in July 1928:

“The number of applications to individual Officers of the Association for solutions of mathematical problems is now so considerable as to give reason for the belief that many members would appreciate the formation of something akin to a Problem Section to which all such enquiries may be sent.
